it doesn't have the power of the sumatra's but all i can remember reading from .25 mrod owners, they claim 1 hole accuracy anyway. it makes more energy than .177 or .22. guess it depends on what you looking for

My buddy has the 25 Sumatra and the 25 Marauder and he prefers the Sumatra for its higher power and better accuracy at very long range.  However, the Sumatra is very loud unless you add some after market quieting whereas the stock Marauder is quiet enough to be backyard friendly.

Great video. However after watch it I feel a whole lot better about my Disco's (not that I felt bad about them), I think their accuracy would rival those illustrated in this video.

Ray, you sure did a good job on the video - LOTS of work went into that.  I would LOVE to have seen a 177 Mrod in the same test.  I like the looks of that shooting rest - I will be looking into one of those myself to play with.

Great job on the video!  I'm surprised, as were you, at the low 22 cal. velocities.  I expected to see 1000+ for 14.3 gr pellets.  Some of the 22s grouped horribly, like the JSB 18.1 - my goto hunting pellet.  Now I'm wondering if the poor 60 yd. performance for most of the 22s is due to the pellets loosing stability due to inadequate velocity at that distance?

I know the Marauder is adjustable.  Anyone shooting 22s at higher velocities getting better results?

I am now rethinking my purchase and may have to exchange for a 25.

Ray's post really started to disturb me.  Nothing to do with Ray or the great effort he put forth but all reviews and talk about the Marauder I have found have found have been overwhelmingly positive.  Quiet, super accurate, nice quality, etc, etc.  I thought the overall accuracy for decent  PCP at 60 yds would be much better and much less pellet fussy.

So I did a little test.  I haven't really done any airgun accuracy testing at 60yds before because my springer really starts to drop at those ranges and the holdover gets too tricky.  This is the reason for the PCP purchase.  I took my GAMO Whsiper IGT in 22 cal and shot 3 60yd groups.  The one posted is the best but due to the weather today, with lots of thundercells moving around, I'm sure it (gun) could group better on a calm day.  I just made my shots in between gusts. I shot a 2.32" group, better than most of the 22 Marauder groups in Ray's video.

Since my spring gun shoots the 14.3gr Crosman pointed at 715 fps from the muzzle which works out to be 515fps at target (chairgun) I think  low velocity stability as a culprit can be ruled out.

I really expected both the 25 and 22 to perform better.  I guess I need to hear from some more Marauder owners to decide how to proceed.

My MRod shots 1/2" groups all day long at 40 yards and I can get an easy 3/4" group at 50 yards using Crosman 14.3 domed in the box pellets. I probably could get 1/2" at 50 but I always seen to pull one out a little. These are all 10 shot groups, dropping down to 5 shot groups I could reduce those group sizes by a 1/4". Have not tried any longer distance yet as I need to trim a shooting lane to be able to go longer than 50 yards.

Hi Norm, do you have any chrony numbers and have you fiddled with the fill pressure/hammer adjustment?  Your accuracy seems to agree with my expectations.

that's pretty dang good Norm. 1/4" 5 shot at 40 is nice. 10shot at 1/2" is good imo. i like using 10 shot groups myself. guess if i was trying to make it look good i would go with 3 shot groups

I've done 3 shots almost in the same hole, one ragged hole but I always seem to pull one or two out a little bit. One of these days I will make it a one hole 5 shot group.

yea the big shot count and smaller holes are always harder. i wanna try and shoot an entire fill 1 day at 1 target just to see how 40 or 50 shots look.

I've played with the throw and spring settings to try and get a 30 FPE with Crosman 14.3 grain domed pellets in the box. Yesterday I shot a 20 shot string over the chrony and had the following #'s: started with a 949.4 fps, a high of 964.9 fps, a low of 965.1 fps. Extreme Dev was 29.8, Average Dev was 6.59  and a 28.76 FPE, this was with a starting pressure of 3000 psi and ending at 2200 psi. I could possibly play with the settings a little bit more and get another 10 shots and stay close to the 28 - 30 FPE but for now I am happy where it is and I do not mind topping of the air pressure after 20 shots.

Congratulations on the purchase.

I don't know about the Predators being so great for hunting. They don't have an aerodynamic shape at all, so you have to make sure they're still moving fast enough by the time they reach the target. I'd go with a good domed pellet for ranges of greater than 25 yards, and know that it is going to still have the enery to get 'er done.
