Crosman Pointed Pellets...

I've been noticing that pellets are getting harder and harder to come by... should I be stocking up on whatever I can get my hands on???

The only pellets still available at my local Walmart stores are the Crosman Pointed .177 cal. pellets...

Anyone care to share their experiences in general... uses (plinking, target, pest control), accuracy, etc...?

They shoot well in my P17.  That's about all I've found that shoots them well, I must confess I wasn't too impressed with their results in other rifles.

It seems to me that pellets are readily available online now. More are available now than a month ago.  I just received some I had ordered from Field Supply.

I recently purchased 8K of .22 Domed Pellets from AGD.
Not because of a shortage but because of the pricing.

I have noticed that there seems to be delay in everything... especially the Rifle I am waiting on.

Shop around, there has to be some out there... for a price !

Sadly, all the guns I tried the crosman pointed pellets in, I would be more accurate throwing them than actually shooting them. Though I thought I might get lucky last night in a new springer I got and then the same ole story.  Just loading them, some were tight, some were loose, the only thing consistent was they flew inconsistent .  What gets me is I love my crosman breakbarrels, but their pellets for me are more better suited to being a paper weight than a projectile.  But every gun is different so.....

I've tied the Crosman Piranha, Pointed and Hollow Point in .22 caliber none have been accurate out of my rifle.

The 7.4gr Crosman pointed pellet is the go-to pellet for my Winchester 1100.  I've probably tested two dozen pellets in that gun and the Crosmans are the only pellet that it shoots accurately.  They don't shoot well in any of my other five .177 cal guns.  I tried these pellets in desperation, looking for any pellet that could be accurate in the Winnie.  I generally consider the Crosman pointed pellets to be poor fodder but the Winnie proves that what is garbage in one gun is ambrosia to another.  It's nice to have a cheap ($58) air rifle that is accurate with cheap easily available ammo.

I've never had good accuracy with ANY pointed pellet from my .177 HW95! Here is a pic of some groups shot upstairs at only 18 yards using an assortment of cheap Daisy pellets from the rotary plastic box. The arrows mark the bull being aimed at and the 5 shot groups speak for themselves.......

I'm guessing that the "Crosman Pointeds" would be more accurate than the "Daisy trash assortment" but notice that the Daisy pointeds were the least accurate of all the head styles!
Here are a couple pics of groups shot upstairs at 18 yards using a couple different dome pellets...........

Even a couple cheap dome pellets and Benjamin hollow points shot OK at 18 yards........


Anywhoo.....shoot what is most accurate from your gun and don't mess with "trick pellets" if they're not accurate!

I received 6,000 rounds of Crosman pointed pellets... and the groups are all over the place.  Every pellet fired was a flier... 3 - 5 shot groups, I wasn't able to hit the bullseye once!!!

I switched back to the Crosman HP's and all shots were within 1/2" bull at 12 yards...

FYI:  Pellets were tested using metal receiver Daisy 880...

Sounds like I'll have to buy a Winchester 1100... to use up the 5,985 remaining rounds of Crosman pointed pellets!!!

Pellets are hard to get here for me if at all as well.

I did grab some ruger pointed and they shoot all over the place

I did grab some Gamo rockets and red fire. They did ok. But I have to re-site between them but groups are fair .

I said in a post here that pellets from xman I bought before covid shot pretty much dead nuts on ,but pellets I have got during covid when available not so good . Hmmmmm....

Just seem like it's pot luck to get any pellet and quality during covid supplies of pellets.

A Walmart 60 miles away one way claims to have cphp in stock so I'm going to risk the drive today, but not getting my hopes up cause 9 of10 times I get there and there's nothing  or a stray tin of &^^& tigers pointed.

Anyway if you can get and try the Gamo red fires and rockets .   It's just tough to pay 7 10 bucks for a 100 count that just do shoot as well as xmans at 7 bucks for 500 count tins.

I checked online yesterday and one of my local Walmart's claimed to have a Winchester 1100s in stock for $15 (my eyes about popped out of my head!!!).  So I raced over to Walmart right after work only to find that it wasn't on the shelf.  I spoke with an employee in the sporting goods department there and he said that they had sold out of them a week ago... and that apparently their inventory hadn't been updated.



Unfortunately, I find that a lot with Walmart's online inventories... claiming to have items in stock only to find upon arrival that they are not there, or claiming items to be out of stock only to find them in stock.  What a way to run a business!!!

I'm in the same boat.  But there is a silver lining.  The current retail shortage of pellets forced me outside of my comfort zone and in desperation I've started ordering pellets online.  Much better quality!  I've become a convert.  I still haunt the local Wallyworld and I visit Tractor Supply regularly because as you have all heard me say (ad nauseum) A pellet that is garbage to one gun may be ambrosia to another.  Case in point I've recently discovered that my XS60 will shoot the Ruger and the Crosman .22 cal pointed pellets accurately.

Ol' lady just called from our closet walmart and said there were 5 tin box  of xman paranas   and should she get them.   I never used hem but told her yes get he whole box. .   

I did that with the ruger's pointed and wish I had not  them things fly all over .

I just hope the pharanas hit as well as the xman hp's   or with in any kinda reason.  Finger's crossed!

I did try the PolyMag, Red Tipped, Pellets.
My Bone Collector, Break Barrel, didn't like them too much.

I would hit a Rabbit at 100 feet or so and the Rabbit would take off on me, no body after I search them out.

I'm sticking to the Dome Crosman Premier Pellets, they work well in the Bone Collector,  hoping for the same results in the Armada.
