Okay, time to Retay!

A few people have asked about scopes. I have several that would fit the bill and would be glad to give a $10 discount to anyone ordering the scope and gun, with a special discount on my own OptaOne. There is more flexibility with the 135x because it is a break-barrel; longer scopes may impede your access to the loading port on the 100x. Prices below include shipping and discount as package; those with an asterisk can go with either gun -- without asterisk are recommended for the 135x only. All are airgun tested.

Wait till you have it in your hands. That synth stock is not like any I have held before. Slightly rubberized, and way more comfortable to the touch that synths usually are.

I have a query out to the manufacturer about doing the 135x in synth wood. I'll let those know who have asked as soon as I do.

I just got email from Retay about the ambi stock/cheek riser.

They ARE NOT ambi.  The cheek riser is for right hand shooter only.  Part is made in Italy, no new mold was made for it. As of now, there is no timeframe available.

As far as I know they do. There have been a few mentions by people in this forum that have directly affected the production of their rifles.

PS - they also respond directly to issues and parts requests... it must not so good for them because the postage will not be favorable.

PPS - I plan on being the parts depo for Retay in the US, so long as I can develop interest. That will not be a hard stretch if I can sell a few hundred rifles.

I AM CONCERNED about Warranty / Service Issues:
According to my email from Retay today, they  offer 1 year (parts only) warranty.  So,  WHO will do the replacement or repairs under the warranty?  The reviews state that the seal is an odd size. There may be more issues where parts may be proprietary.
You posted above, " that you plan on being a parts depo...so long as you can develop interest".  But you know about the best laid plans....and those of best intentions... I/customers need something more in Concrete.
I do wish the best, but Retay is a newer company,  these are newer designs, and Turkey is a long way away.    I would hate for someone to buy one, and then have problems getting it fixed,  or have to wait for prepaid parts and then find a person to fix it,  or worse, find they don't support it any longer, after a few years.

Mike, don't be a stick in the mud... I am sure Richard will get replacement parts with his orders of guns as well. Richard will be the one everyone will have to deal with for warranty, just like Pyramyd Air and the rest of distributors do. One year warranty is about par for most all air gun sales.

Rich has been a member here on the GTA for years now. He is reputable and a man of good character. He started out with the Cometa Distributorship and Hawk Scopes as well. I and many others have bought guns, scopes and accessories from him since he started his business. Very honest and goes beyond the norm for service and shipping.

Rich has been working with Retay for almost a year now. Lots of emails and conversations between them. So if you are worried about his best laid plans then look a little further to other company's that buy and drop air gun models.

Just be a bit more tolerant ...

Mike, a newer company, sure. Even in the worst case scenario, say they don't last. People still buy used guns and somehow manage to keep them working. Myself I have been looking to buy a Haenel Suhl Model 312. I really don't know if I can get manufacturer parts on a rifle that will be 20 years old. 

If you adopt that attitude, there will NEVER be any new guns, new gun companies and astounding new products that make waves to improve the sport. You may think a few hundred is a lot to risk... I am risking many thousand.

I think you will find that these guns are outstanding quality. I think you will also find that not only is the company willing to support the product, but that I am planning on maintaining a supply of parts in the pipeline.

Read my post again.  I didn't question any person or company character.  Ask a bank about failures by people and companies of good character.
   My questions are valid and pertinent Gene.  
I am disappointed, (after reading your posts about poor service by another company), that you would consider my questions as somehow not worthy.  I didn't deserve that kind of rip from you.

EDIT:  I have been in correspondence with RETAY since December/January.  Mostly over questions about design issues.  Not Sales.  Yes they are very interested in our input, and are good communicators.  They state that warranty issues are not handled "in House".  Thus, my questions.

I invited questions, yes. Your wordings seem like attacks. Forgive me if I am not interpreting correctly. However, it still seems a bit hostile in the way you are calling me out, and I believe I answered the question. All I can do is expand on that.

You say that they said 'warranty issues are not handled in house' however, they sent new parts directly to one of the owners on request -- DEz ezman604. He probably has not received it yet, but he's getting a new stock. They have also already made modifications to the rifles based on feedback, before they manufacture the ones I am going to order this week. It suggests they are willing to go above and beyond to help establish their reputation. It also suggests that I do not need to stock parts, as they are willing to replace under warranty, and without return. I feel they have already made good faith gestures.

Beside that I said I would be a parts depot if I could sell some rifles. It would be premature and silly to stock anything but basic parts if I don't sell anything. Meanwhile, if another company took on the importing, I would be stuck. That is just business sense. I have not made so large a purchase with Retay as to have a US exclusive, and there are many companies that can out-finance me. I will have springs and seals initially, and perhaps a few other parts. The company seems to stand by their product and have already shown that they are willing to ship out to customers -- and they have.

I am realistic and i won't say "you'll never have to worry about parts, warranty, or repair" as that would be a lie and an unrealistic claim at this point in time. I do not have a crystal ball. I can tell you that I will do my best to support the sales, and that I expect the company will too, as they have shown. On the other hand, I own quite a few rifles that are "not supported", some that are no longer manufactured or with parts available readily in the US, and some I have paid well for. I guess I don't sit around expecting everything to break -- especially if I have bought a product of reasonable quality. I brought the guns over and had them inspected by Gene who in turn turned one over to Dave. This was initially at my expense and risk, though Gene was interested enough to buy some off of me, and I appreciate that he thought so much of the product. I would think it would mean something that a professional like Gene has gone over the guns and made an assessment. He's had his head inside a lot of guns! There is some risk in buying anything. On the other hand, letting fear of obscure risk paralyze you means you might miss out on something good. I could what-if my purchases over seas to death, and never bring anything back. And as I suggested, every innovation and positive change would fail because of fear of what might happen.

If the little risk there is seems to be too much for you, stand back and let other interested parties come at it. Myself, I have faith in my dealings, faith in the rifles, and faith in the manufacturing company, Retay. The risk I am taking is far more than anyone who will be buying a rifle.
