Cowboy Action - Searching for the right CO2 Revolver Pistol

I want to practice my cowboy action skills but - due to the internal valves and tubings - virtually all of the airguns I have found were not suitable for such a task. Unlike the cowboy action revolver seen on YouTube, the couple of air-revolvers I currently own have harder-to-reach and harder-to-pull hammers.


Yes, the mechanics of all airguns might ultimately not allow for the exact same capability in cycling; still, I'm curious: are there any cowboy-action specific air-revolvers out there?

I have never tried cowboy action, but I have a Colt single action army that I really like. Its inly 2.75 FPE but very accurate.

Be sure to get the one that says pellet only, that one has a rifled barrel. If you get the one that says pellet or BB, then it's smooth bore.

Okay, the Colt SAA you've mentioned sounds good. One question for the model: while I'm continually pulling the trigger, would the chamber rotate as I'm pulling back the hammer with my other hand?

Something like 55-60 years ago, was given a Daisy 179 and holster...looked like a singe action Colt,acted like a single action Colt,but it was one of the odd guns.

 Was (and is) NOT AN AIRGUN...no air compression or co2  going on,it basically "bugger flicked" a BB.  Spring flicked a BB down its smooth bore barrel (basically a catapult)..maybe made like 1/2 a foot pound.

WORST case you'd get a leg hickie. Best case you'd boucne a cat-food can at 10-15 feet(nd learn to be a really fast draw doing it)..and on some days splatter a dragon fly in the air.

(Shame on me...those guys eat mosquitos...should not have shot them back then.)

Yes, the cylinder rotates as you cock the gun. I only has 3 clicks, not C-O-L-T. It must be loaded one  cartridge at a time. The cylinder must be positioned between clicks to load or unload a cartridge.

I like it but there the hammer rests a little bit open. The pistol says 45 cal on the side but it's a 177, the cartridges are 357 size, still I wish you could try it.

A co2 cartridge get about 50 to 60 shots.
There is also a Schofield that may be my next pistol.

It's just plain fun, I let everyone try it, and everyone has fun. Throw out some tin cans and blast away!

The SAA is available in the original 7 5 inch barrel, and the later 5,5 inch barrel, nickel, black or weathered, smooth bore or rifled.

I sometimes load two wadcutter pellets, it will shoot them both. When I shoot at a close range tin can I can hear the double hit badup. When I shoot a deer feeder barrel at 25 yards it da-dings!

When I started Cowboy shooting years ago, I practiced in the yard with two Hahn 45 BB revolvers shooting at paper plates hung on a string at about five yards.  It did help in that it helped getting my timing down and returning the guns to the holsters. I haven't tried it with my Umarex SSA since I quit shooting Cowboy.  Age actually caught up with me and I can't last a five or six stage match anymore.

I have a the Limited Edition Duke colt with holster that would be perfect for Cowboy action shooting.

I rigged this "Duke"  HPA or Co2 for bench testing. Can easily be returned to it's "Stock" 12 gr. cart in about 30 seconds. Has the exact look and feel of a Rugar "Single Six" Shoots .177 pellets and is fairly accurate. Comes with Six .38 cal shells which load and ejects just like the "Real deal!" Fun Shooter! dave

The Umarex Duke comes in two versions. One for .177 pellets (rifled) and BB's smooth bore. I chose the rifled version. This is as good as it gets to a real SA Colt .45. Weight and Trigger is really close to the "Real Deal!" and.... No, you only get 3 clicks...Not 4.   dave

Yes you can thumb the hammer repeatedly while holding the trigger back.  I think Pyramyd has a new “build your own” where you can put any of the available components together and I thought I even saw a fanning hammer option.

Because it’s so easy to step down into the basement and play, mine gets shot A LOT!!!

My Vaquero is very satisfying when it gets to go out and make with the big booms but it is seriously jealous of the time spent with these little gems.

Back when I started shootings CAS, I was very slow and the time was killing my score. I had a couple of Crosman Shiloh's, which resembled Remingtons. Using then on my back patio, I taught this old timer how to instinct shoot.

I never was the fastest, but I had close to 20 years fun.
