Hi Louis, on my 187 I see that the pin is riveted on the back of the hammer. Is it the same on yours? Maybe try to gently press the pin out? I can't offer more advice as I never did it, good luck!
The striker tip is removed for access to the circlip. Some were pinned , others were just press fit. Date of mfg is the difference.
This is how I fixed one.If the end cap is pressed on tap it out.Drill and tap the cap 10-32 or metric if you choose. You can make a new rod or use a 2 1/2" 10-32 SS shank hex bolt. You'll have to modify it some but it will screw onto the cap and can be removed and adjusted in the future. If you make a new rod then you can tap the cap 8-32 and cut a shoulder on the new rod like the original.Probably how it should have been done initially.
that's how i would do it Louisi've not stripped a 180 one but have done a few 1377 ones and you'll find you have to punch the cocking rod out of the knob to replace the spring in most cases there will not be anything left to peen over to secure the knob back on so you'll possibly have to bond it on or try to get a new rod
Louis, could you post a pic' of the disassembled hammer and pin please? I've never had a need to take one of these apart, would like to understand how they are put together.Thank you!Don R.
