With an Avenger on order, this is all great info to know guys. Especially Bill’s reg degassing adventure (Yikes)!

I have several tins of the Benjamin dome Jim Shockey pellets that have been around here for quite some time. Nothing really shot them as accurately as other options. I use them for breaking in and testing. Such was the case with the Avenger while adjusting the regulator and hammer spring. They didn't shoot well with the out of box settings on the gun. However, after setting the reg down to 2100 and backing the hammer spring all the way, I just gotta say, WOW!! Pretty impressive accuracy at 35 yds. Just one more thing to like about this gun.

Bill I still have a full tin of those pellets I haven't even opened, mainly because back when I bought my Mrod for the first gun I started casting pellets for I came to the conclusion that the Benji & Crosman pellets were too darned hard. I still need to try some slugs through my Avenger yet because if it shoots them accurate I'll do a chrony string with the Avenger with them.

Had a few spare minutes before work again this morning so I aired the gun up to 4k on the gun's gauge (3600 on the Vevor gauge). Loaded up 4 mags with the Benjamin .25 domes. Stacked those 32 pellets easily within a dime at 35yds. (amazing). Checked the gauge and it hovered right around 3k remaining.
I didn't take the time to set up the chrono... we'll get back to that soon enough.
I did, however, jump on PA,s site and order 4 tins of those Benji pellets and 2 more spare mags.
I still believe the compressor gauge is accurate. I'll need to shoot the gun down until it falls off the reg and compare gauges.
6 mags per fill will suit me just fine

Wow ! great results ! on those , I need to test those in my gun when I get some time , my house remodel on the outside is sucking all of my time up trying to get it done ,and beat the rain season , another week or so I should have it done

I still have a long ways to go in testing this gun.
I still need to chrono and stretch it out to 50yds and see what it can really do.
But so far, Avator is a happy boy....

I mentioned above that I placed an order for the Benji pellets and 2 mags with PA this morning. I just received the shipped notice with tracking.....

Whoa, that's a lot of shots on one fill for a .25 Avenger Bill. Would you know what your reg was set at, and number of turns on the hammer spring?

Got home for lunch and shoveled down a bowl of Marzetti then Grabbed the Avenger and stepped out onto the back deck shooting bench.
As I mentioned earlier, after 4 mags from 4k by the gun's gauge it was hovering on the 3k mark. I ran 3 more mags and both gauges just barely fell off the 2100 mark.
Two things came from this....
1) The fill gauge on the gun matches the reg gauge making the compressor gauge wrong.
2) I get 56 regulated shots at 2100psi with a 4k fill, all hitting within a dime at 35yds.
Next up.... drag that chrono back out.

Whoa, that's a lot of shots on one fill for a .25 Avenger Bill. Would you know what your reg was set at, and number of turns on the hammer spring?

4k fill, reg set at 2100 and hammer spring backed all the way out.

Confirmed.... faulty compressor gauge.
I had a spare oil filled gauge from one of those cheap Chinese hand pumps. I swapped it out with the one on the compressor and .. BOOYA !!
It matched up pound for pound with the gauge on the gun. So glad I erred on the side of caution with this one.... at the least, I spared a burst disc on the gun.
On the other hand... I reckon I have been over filling other guns by at least a couple hundred psi. That's gonna affect shot counts reported.

Darned gauges!!! I switch around using guns enough where I usually see something isn't right. I have a big gauge on my fill adaptor that has always seemed to be dead on for accuracy and it was a little more pricey than usual but of course that too can fail as well.

That is what I go by a larger fill gauge that has always been dead on ...
