Seal material types

Was having issues with my inlet seal.  The black material seemed to mark and not hold shape that well on my old Crosman 101.  Got these seals off EBay pretty cheaply and they are brown and seem much more durable.  Also a little thicker which helped as well?   Sealed it right up.  Wonder what this stuff is?

Looks like Urethane to me. The color may indicate a lower durometer then white 90 or green 70. Viton or Buna-N would be Black.  dave

Interesting the cone exhaust seal is white.

Overall, the color of urethane is not an indicator of its hardness although there may be individual manufacturers who use different colors for specific durometers.  Whitish is used for various hardnesses.  I have a rod of 95 that's deep red, and orange sheet stock in 70, 80 and 90.

Looks like urethane to me too. I've used teflon inlet and exhaust seals with great success on Crosman 120, 140 and Benji 310.

The majority of my resealed guns have been done with custom delron (spelling?) seals. A little finicky with CO2....hair dryer heat and Mercon ATF have been used to swell minor leaks shut, but good to go from there.

With all my Crosman 150's I am using urethane o rings in them very reliably.  Not sure if there were urethane o rings used on the origianals but it's a perfect seal for old guns now.

Just left Tim's shop an hour ago. Early Crosmans used a Black 90 D Buna-type O ring. Doesn't get any better than the White 90 D Urethane O-rings used later on! dave
