I have read that the alcohol flush seems to bring back the Old Sheridans etc, sometimes...........
I didn't have any alcohol on hand, so I broke out the good OLD JD,
since I couldn't find the correct amount to use, I squirted 10 CC into the oil hole, gave it 2 pumps,
felt a little resistance, cocked it and set it in the corner, overnite.

Next morning, I put a folded paper towel over the muzzle and tripped the trigger,
she puked and covered about a silver dollar sized spot of black junk etc.
Fired it a second time and got nothing, so added another dose of JD, added 2 pumps,
felt a little stronger, cocked and set in the corner overnight.

Next AM, repeated the first firing and got the same results, a bigger black puke spot, OK
tried it a 3rd time, and the next AM got the same results, but with less black puke showing on the paper towel.

I lubed several drops of lube the the oil hole, and pumped 2 pumps a fired it, did this several times,
then added 4 pumps and let it set over night, next AM, I attempted to fired it and got a weak pop,
repeat over the next couple of days, got the same results.

So, It appears that I'll have to reseal it, it's only been in excess of 60 yrs, since the first sealing....LOL,
now to find the tool and good seal kit...............

I wouldn't leave JD in the gun over night. When you alcohol flush you squirt some in the oil hole, two pumps and fire. Repeat until the discharge from the muzzle is clean. Then put a few drops of oil in the hole, two pumps and fire. Repeat until there's a fine mist of oil coming out the muzzle. Now give it two pumps and let it sit overnight. Fire it the next day to see if it held the pressure.

my thoughts are just strip and reseal and whilst many have had good results with the alcahol flush for the time it takes to pull the valve and fit new seals it's a no brainer for me and you know it's fixed for another 20yrs

Ya, I know, I was lead down the garden path, reading all the reports of it working etc............LOL

I figured I would at least try it,....

I have planned on resealing it, just have to find the best option,
seeing that the tool alone is almost 50 clams, I hope I can find a better option.
PA doesn't have any in stock and still searching...............

Believe me Bill, that was a last resort move, using a couple of sips of JD,
I figured, I like it straight, my OLD Dan might also..............LOL

At O dark thirty, there was NO place open that I find find any alcohol, to do the flush with,
so I went with option #2 = JD.

LOL.... true story...
During certain times of the year I get really bad sinus issues and use nasal spray.
Those empty bottles are perfect for refill with Secret Sauce from a large bottle.
I bet you think you know where this is going.....
No, I did not spray SS in my nose.... I did however, put nasal spray in a Daisy 880.
.... and for the record.... it does not work.
And those bottles are clearly marked now.

a jug of Vodka and Everclear.....................    
I doubt that either of those choices would also.....................

Over at the PA blog, Tom Gaylord has used automatic transmission leak sealer successfully many times. It softens the seals and can make them work better. Of course, if it needs a rebuild real bad,.. then nothing is going to work other than a rebuild.

I suppose there’s only so much the alcohol flush can do.  I’d try this method if I could find some alcohol, but it seems to be unobtanium right now.

If the seals have any life left and aren't holding air because of old crud in there an alcohol flush can work. It won't fix damaged seals. Do you have any other solvents handy that won't dissolve neoprene rubber? If it was my gun I would use them but remove the action so it doesn't get on the stock finish. In the worst case you're going to be replacing seals which isn't a bad idea in the first place.
