Ruger 10/22 ... COČ cartridge stuck

This rifle uses 2x12 gram COČ cartridges. In my rifle, now the one farthest in is stuck; won't drop out.

I've tried tapping, shaking and now a rod with super glue to try to pull it out. No go. The glue doesn't grip enough to pull out the cartridge.

Got any ideas?

Still shoots fine but at 1/2 capacity for COČ.

Still shoots fine but at 1/2 capacity for COČ.

 Clamp gun with  barrel pointing straight down  swab end of stuck powerlet with denatured alchohol, get I/2" wood dowel rod, countersink one end with 1/2" bit, mix small batch
of 5 minute epoxy, place epoxy in center of dowel, , hold dowel in place for 10 minutes......remove powerlet. Next time, put a drop of 3-in1 oil on the cart piercing tip! dave

Several of my SPA C02 guns had that issue. Then I received the CP2 Master Blaster pistol/carbine kit. I noticed an oblong hole in the tube near the nose of the cart. I can see the cart through the hole. When a cart gets stuck I just reach in there with something and pop the cart out. Now all my C02 guns (which don't pressurize the tube) have a hole in the tube courtesy of my drill...

Next time, put a drop of 3-in1 oil on the cart piercing tip!

I always place a drop of Pellgun oil on the top of each cartridge to keep the COČ seals lubed.

I did finally get the stuck cartridge out!

What finally did it was a flat bladed screwdriver with a very long shank (7.75"). I was able to get the flat blade down the pressure tube and gently wiggle the COČ cartridge first on the left and on the right a few times and ... it just dropped out!

I had thought of this approach earlier but just couldn't find my screwdriver. After trying other approaches (Super Glue) I made a determined effort to locate the tool. Found it and in minutes had it fixed.

Another tip that can save you some grief down the road. Store the gun empty when done shooting. Remove the CO2 carts. As for being stuck I use a mechanics magnet to get my stuck carts out. The one I have fits down the tube of all my guns, you just have shop around to find one that is the same diameter as the cart.

Short answer: I like it!

10 shot repeater
Single/Double action
Single action pull, hard!
Cock the bolt, pull then nice!

Accuracy:

I'm spoiled by my 177 Hammerli 850. On many decent days I can shoot .4" 10-shot groups at 25 yds bag rested (GTOs).

The Ruger is closer to 1" groups at 25 yds braced against my window sill, not as accurate as the Hammerli but still fun to shoot.

The Ruger is so light and handy to hold, it's probably my most fun air gun to shoot. On single action you can shoot Bam Bam Bam 10 times if you like. Fun! It's good for what it's good for. It's nice to carry with a sling. Spare mags (small and cheap) and spare COČ easy to carry in your pocket. I consider it a good value for it's price.

The Hammerli can hit 5" targets at 85 yds pretty reliably. The Ruger? Nope.

I love it.  I have had one since last fall and shot about 8K pellets through it so far.

It has a heck of a pull if you don't cock it first, but you can do it if you want.  I shoot it that way very rarely, though.

IIRC is was something like 14 pounds if you don't cock first, and 4 pounds if you do.

Can you cock it and have a light enough trigger for hunting?

Yes, but it only delivers 5-6 fpe, so unless you're out mole hunting, you'll just tick off the target.

Is it accurate?

Yes, very much.

I'm not the greatest shot, but in a mounted setup it will do a dime sized area at 10m.  The first 5 shots are usually a little wild, then you get about 50 that are very good, then the last 10-15 you start to see some drop.

The gun is very light, just like the .22.

I use Crosman Premier Heavy 10.5gr domed in mine.  The only mod I've made so far (aside from bolting on a Weaver rail and scope) is to lightly drill out (just a few swipes of a bit) the pellet holes in the magazine.  It lets them pop out a little easier and gave about 10fps improvement.

I just wish it would take a wood stock.  If they had one, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.  But if this one ever craps out, I'd buy another just as quickly.

Nice idea!

The mags are so inexpensive it'd be easy to experiment until you set up a couple that are just right.

They're TIGHT (I believe to keep pellets from dropping out). I seat mine with a BIC Click pen tip.

Mechanic's  Magnet  1/2 " Tip OD. Tape up the swivel head, and you're good to go! dave

How does the COČ pressure vessel (tube) disconnect from the upper casting? Does it unscrew?
