Marauder Gauge block/plenum question

I'm having a time finding this info out...  I had a thought while working on some projects.  The two parts I'm trying to compare are the Tim Hill gauge block that has a larger I.D. to flow more air, and the other is the gauge block/plenum that Huma makes.  Has anyone done a direct comparison between these two parts?  Which one has a larger I.D.?  Does anyone know what material Huma makes their plenums from?  I've emailed Huma, I'm just asking here, in case Huma doesn't want to divulge the info.  Would standard 6061 Aluminium be an appropriate material to use?

I'm not sure what material the Huma stuff is made from. I bought mine from Trenier outdoors. They are great to deal with.

I may just go with my original idea and use a Hill gauge block w/a custom length plenum.  Seems easier to do.

Tom,
I can’t post a picture because it’s in a gun but the Hill gauge block I.D is bigger than Huma’s plenum with gauge port. Huma chocked down the I.D. around the gauge port. I believe it’s just 6061 aluminum.

Stock, the hill has more volume that a huma.

Yessir, you are correct Fuzzy!  I also got an email from Huma confirming 6061 aluminium as well.  So I'll just use a Hill gauge block.  This post may be moot, as I might be able to do the build using a Ninja Flex reg (JSAR's adjustable reg)...  But I very much appreciate the help, and the links!

The standard .25 Huma (without the gauge port) coupled with the Hill gauge port will give you 34cc of plenum space when including the valve.  I like using the Huma standard with the Hill gauge port combo because I can pull the Huma without having to mess with the gauge port and the gauge to do so.

That is a very good point about not having to mess with the gauge or gauge port if removal of the reg is necessary!

You don't anyhow...the regulator bits that matter are removable while the plenum and gauge bits can remain....the lane regulator uses a key chain loop to allow you to hook onto, while the huma I don't believe has this available, it still is designed in such a way that you can remove the portion of the regulator that contains the seat/piston and majority of o-rings...

This website suggests attaching a string/fishing line to one end of the regulator for easy removal...and also grinding down one of the screws for increasing regulator refresh rate, but personally I would go about that all entirely differently, but that's from the horses mouth.

Sorry, I haven't read through this thread in its entirety, but if going for more power, go with the biggest Huma plenum you can find with or without a gauge port.  There's no need to overstress the shot cycle when tuning for increased power.  This larger plenum can also be used to increase shot count by allowing you to lower the set point for more shots per fill.

I went with the Huma because I needed to install it between the gauge block and the valve. The 17/22 Huma for Marauders has a plenum that's 40 mm long. I only had room for 32 mm max. I made measurements from pictures, but Huma created a new plenum for the M-Rod FT. it's 30 mm long, so I don't know how many cc's, maybe 15 to 18 with valve volume. It should be good because FT is 12 or 20 FPE maximum.
