I never read of any failures. Where did you find that info? I'd like to read it.

yes, the valve thing was on them , the hipac shooting into the ceiling was a manufacturer error , the wall of the tube at the root of the threads was .025 , so it snapped off easily. The story has been gone over a million times on the forums , the general consesus was always the fact there were 2 seperate failures, fairly unrelated to each other.

The HiPAC shooting into the ceiling seemed more a matter of reaction from the recoil of the valve shooting out the end of the gun. Look at it like this... lay a shotgun on a table and pull the trigger. The slug goes out the barrel but the shotgun goes in the opposite direction,i.e...recoil. That doesn't constitute simultaneous reaction, it's more cause and effect, or action and reaction.

Somehow knew that vid would come up.

Look at it more carefully

1. He worked on/took apart a pressurized airgun.
2, He cut the HiPAc tube short and used it as an extension to the existing tube.
3. Was NOT being used as the designed/recommended/requires.

Sorry for him...but it's really not the HiPac unit's fault.

Really was his fault.

Exactly right, Robert.
The Hipac, as designed, pressurizes the valve - not the tube. If you plan to cobble together your own HPA build, you really need to know the difference.
The Hipac was wrongfully used as a tube extension with the sealing part to the valve removed... and the tube was pressurized. The threaded connection (not designed to seal) was epoxied to the seal the threads.
And of course, removing the securement under pressure was (admittedly) a mistake. Lots of errors here...

I believe he has recovered and that's good, but the HiPac getting a bad rep for this is bad... jmho-

Knowing that guy...and having seen the valve

The hipac failed due to the threads being cut too shallow.
The valve failed to be retained due to screw shear.
The overall incident happened due to the fact my friend is a dumbass for working on a live gun.

Knowing what he showed in the full video...he cut the Hipac tube short and filled the whole Crosman tube to high pressure.

Left as designed, only the full length insert tube would see pressure.

Pressuizing the whole tube (as he did) would make failure a much better bet...and eject the front end if it failed.

Using it as designed (non-sealed valve,non pressurized Crosman tube) would pretty much rule that kind of ejection out.

NO evidence of valve retention screws visible on his full vid....evidently relied on the single little valve location screw.

He pretty much had to have it mostly taken apart under pressure...and that's a NO-NO for any PCP.

For the valve to hit him in the leg. Had to have it mostly apart....or the end cap/striker/striker spring would have ejected out the back and not just the valve. Even with the bolt open, would have had to sear the cocking pin..shear the rear end cap screws ...and ejected all the stuff from the valve to the end cap out the back.

Which pretty well points to:

1.Using a cut short HiPAc as a bulk fill adaptor.
2. Nor putting in the valve retention screws.
3.Sealing the valve to the air tube to allow the air tube to be pressurized.
4.taking apart a pressurized system.
5.removing everything from the valve back (striker/end cap/striker spring)while under poorly retained valve is under pressure.

Sorry he f'ed up his leg....but when you make your own rules, you gotta live with betting wrong.

HAve used them and played with them for years....follow the rules, and they are safe. Make yourown rules, make your own consequences.

There is no explanation as to why that HiPac failure could cause the valve retention screw to shear. There is a good explanation as to why the valve screw failure caused the HiPac failure...i.e. the gun launched itself and the HiPac broke upon impact.

I stand by that statement today... with no convincing evidence to the contrary. And I think I've gone further than I wanted to on this...

ok fair enough , and yes , i dont want to relive the past and regretted my initial posting of the video immediately.. Its not an interesting topic and we have no cases of hipacs failing in an unmolested state.

Good to double check...vids like that can point to facory problems that need addressing. In this case,thinking it was a non-standard use.
