Hatsan (Gladius) breech seal

Hi all. Newbie needing help !

Anyone know if you need to remove the barrel to replace the outer most seal?

Been all over the boards, the 'net and YouTube but can't find anything about it??

Just remove the barrel, and get it out.  You'll drive yourself nuts trying to fish it out/re-install it with the barrel in the gun.

So next question.... from searching about I just remove 2x grub screws and gently pull??

Yep, that's pretty much all there is to it.  You will want to mark the barrel, so you can make sure the barrel port is aligned for re-installation.  You can stick a piece of scotch tape or masking tape on there to mark, so you aren't having to permanently mark the barrel.

I always remove the QE first, then the barrel.  I've seen others remove the QE and barrel at the same time, but that method would make it hard to get the barrel back in to the same spot while keeping the QE tight on the gun.  It also poses more risk of damaging the o-rings on the barrel during removal/installation.  The QE is pretty easy to remove.  I'm not positive on the Gladius, but on all the other QE guns, it is just a matter of removing the end cap and baffles to get to the 14mm nut in there.  Just get an extension and 14mm deep well socket to remove that nut, and the whole shroud will slide off.  After all of that, you can undo the barrel set screws and slide the barrel out.  I usually twist the barrel slightly back and forth while pulling it out.  It tends to come out easier that way, without damaging the o-rings. 

You can leave the gun aired up, and you can unscrew the cylinder and take it out of the gun without de-gassing it.  It is perfectly safe.  Hatsan made those guns so the air cylinders can be screwed off and changed out without de-gassing them.  The whole barrel removal process is very easy, and takes less than 5 minutes

Should the QE shroud end be more than hand tight as mine seems pretty firmly on, before I try any tooling on it?

The end cap doesn't have to be super tight, but I like to snug down the nut that holds it all in place pretty good.  The nut holding the shroud on should be more than hand tight for sure.
