Christos, I'm going to be so bold as to say you can remove that. i think it's just a filler for for a screw hole that a peep sight can be mounted on.My D48 had no screw there, just an open hole which my rear scope mount now sits over.

Just be sure NOT to use that threaded hole as a stop for a scope pin as it will mess up the threads if the mount shifts. Also, label and keep that screw as I believe they are difficult to replace. What is the year of make of your D34?

FWIW, Dennis, I thought that was true about those screws, too. But after measuring them with my metric thread gauge and some research I found them to be nothing more than M6 0.50 thread screws. I sourced some for my now removed rear sight screw holes from a company that sells metric screws... the ones I got are used in laptop hard drives. They're perfect for filling such holes, 4mm long with a very thin head and black. I can provide a link if you want.
For those with inquiring minds who really want to know - those little peep sight mounting screws are not included with ALL new Diana rifles, just most of them.

In my older years, I tend to lose them, and not just the screws of my airguns IYKWIM.
