Old timer needs a pistol- recommendation please?

I will probably kick myself later but I have been thinking of "thinning the stable" to buy another higher end gun. 
 First things first.
Do you require a .22 for the ability to handle the pellet?
A .177 has a flatter trajectory, typically more accurate, and you can buy pellets that will have enough FPE to put the "Smackdown" on Starlings and Rats.
Next...
What kind of pulling or squeezing strength do you now have in your RIGHT hand thumb and index finger? Imagine putting your thumb at the rear end of the breech and wrapping your index finger around the bolt handle and cocking the action.
A lot of RIGHT hand shooters like a LEFT handed breech because you work the bolt with your "off hand" and your dominant hand holds the gun. I should think the opposite would be true for a "South-Paw".

So all that said...
 I built a 1740 carbine out of a "blister pack 2240" with a 10" barrel from a 1377. (Pictured)
It has a Crosman steel breech
A MagnumAirpower stainless extended probe with handle
A MagnumAirpower Power adjuster (backing off the adjuster releases tension on the hammer spring, lowers energy but would make it easier to cock)
A walnut stock from AlchemyAirwerks.
I have lightly polished the trigger group for smoother pull.
I have the nice AlchemyAirwerks ported muzzle brake.
The Scope shown does NOT come with it but I will mount a similar 3/4 NCstar
I will also include a set of Crosman 1701P grips for pistol shooting instead of the originals shown.
With the QB target rear blade sight with an extended front pin shown on the "pistol" version.
Along with the original .22 barrel and if I can find it, a .22 probe to make it a .22 if you really want to go that route.
 You could not build this gun for your budget but I would sell it for that.
 If you're interested let me know and I will throw it together as I described and post pics.... Then we can talk price.

If op is interested I have a .25 mrod barrel I will mail to anyone able to put it on a 2240. The bigger pellets might be easier to load.

I'd definitely custom build a 2300KT Carbne at the custom shop. Crosman is out of stock 2240s.  I think the 2300 is slightly higher grade and has definitely more options than the 2400.  I don't think you coud go wrong ether way.  Might have to send to Europe, but magazines exist for them and the 2300 and 2400 series are almost infinitely customizeable.  You're gonna get at least 400fps with a 7.5" barrel, more with longer.  About 40 shots or more so I am told.

The Diana Chaser rife kit looks nice, but is out of stock everywhere AFAIK.  Everyone I've talked to that knows both has leaned Crosman though.

If .177 is at all an option, I just got a 1077 rifle, but it's nearly light as a pistol and could easily be shot one handed.  I also recomend Air Venturi Pellet pens. I just got one, and I am instantly in loe with it!  Makes loading SO much easier!

I have the 2300kt with the 2X scope. It is a good shooting combination but loading .177 pellets underneath the scope can be a little fiddly.

Here’s the chaser in stock 🔼 It looks like Wes is selling them ala carte, you can get it single shot, or with the magazine, with or without the stock, etc. I’d think the magazine would be a huge advantage. You might even get one with the bolt on whichever side is best for you.

This one is not available with the stock, no option to select it.

Umarex does not have the range of pellets, so the different would be the ones they carry versus the ones you might want (JSB or H&N). IOW, it's not Pyramid Air or AGD.

I love my 2240XL, just need iron sights for it; using a Gamo green dot I'm not fond of, but it works, really accurate and powerful for a co2 pistol.  I definitely recommend the steel breech, but you'll need a rear sight, or somthing....
