Lock-down..."orphan pellets"

If you aren't an old airgunner, one just starging out, likely don't have a big collection of "dud-pellets"...the ones that didn't work out so great.
Most of us do have a collection of "not so good" pellets stitting on the back shelf.
Life is getting tough....not just the virus, but the general economic prospects....and the supply side of things isn't looking so bright (whole lot of out-of-stock items).
Seems like a good time(if you're airgun shooting) to use up some of the forgotton/second place pellets that have been hiding out in the back of the locker.
Could just continue to sing happy birthday to them every year,or shoot them.
Two types of orphan-pellets seem to hang around the ammo-locker.
A. The last partly full tins of good pellets that they DON'T make anymore.... just don't have enough left to make it worth seriously testing when you can't get more.
B. Pellets that sucked from the get-go,reguardless if them make then now or not.
Bought and paid for so long ago, didn't work out, shelved and ignored, just taking up space. MAybe not even tried in some of the airguns boughtrecently (just wrote them off as "total losers" and never got around to melting them down into fishing sinkers).
Down side would be a lot fewer bragging groups to post....turning your 1moa rifle into a 3moa rifle doesn't give you much to post about and might hurt your ego.
Don't care so much....only needs to shoot well enough to be useful to get used....think of it as liberating their confinement and letting them fulfill their purpuse.
I strated with the LEAST used calibers and had a few discoveries.
Discoveries:
Small group of orpahn .25's...not all bad pellets, just not enough of these old ones to make it worth the testingwhen I can't get the same thing again.
OK...this surprised me. Won't win any benchrest matches, but I'm going to shoot up the rest of that #3 buckshot.
5mm:
Some orphans...although a couple are still made (in different packages):
OF THE ORPHANS....found a use for the 10gr. WC's in a co2 5mm QB conversion (evidently, low-n-slow does help WC's).

5mm Side lite:
Waited long enough....about time I opened this old big-box....was not an orphan,KNEW it wass there, just didn't have the urge/need to get them out of storage (NOW...yes).....not everything 5mm liked CP's,but more of them did.
Will get to the forgotton pellets in .177 and .22.....are enough of themhanging around waiting to be liberated.....seems to be plenty of time, worries about economy/money....may as wellfind a good home for those "orphans"too.
So some questions about pellet buying:
1. Do you think pellets arew going to get CHEAPER over time....or are you going to have less ready $ to spend on a "hobby"?
Either way, don'tsee how ordering "more"has a down side.
2.LONG RUN: much better off spend the price of a new toy (assuming you have several airguns) on pellets than on that new toy.
LIKELY you will live to see the use of the pellets....if not, then new toy or pellet stash "don't make no never mind" to you.
BOTTOM LINE ADVICE (perspective):
1. Buy pellets....buy your best found so far pellets....they ain't getting cheaper...they don't take up that much room...and they don't have an expeirtation date.
2. Full sealed tins of odd-ball/discontinued pellets have a value to foks who like them....you won't lose money with the "good ones".
FOLKS IN A HURRY and distrubed about shipping times.
Another "boo-hoo"....if they have them in stock, and will ship them sooner or later, then "not so good it up buttercup". Either shoot what you got, shoot something else, or just wait....so far as I know, it's not a race.

I got a big kick out of this one. You are getting alot of mileage out of the autocorrect!
Depending on how bad they "not worthy", I will zero with them and use exclusively until they are gone. Hunting- just get a littl closer. How much accuracy do you really need for backyard bunny bashing?
If it is close enough to zero with a favorite pellet, to at least hit a walnut out to 10 or 15 yards without much trouble, then they are fine for coke cans much further and will do for bunny bashing at night.
Flashlight and iron sights, 20 yards is a pretty long shot for me at night. I gotta get closer than that just to make sure it's not a baby.
I learned that from GTA member one shot (Nick Pellegrin), he hasn't posted in a great while and I wonder if he is still around?
