Thoughts on the Hatsan 25 Supertact

I'm thoroughly impressed with my Hatsan 25 Supercharger 177 & 22, so much so, I'm considering the Hatsan 25 Supertact as I fancy a carbine.

What's people's thoughts on these? I'm particularly interested in hearing about the longevity of the stock as it looks like a weak point at first glance.

Also, are they physically internally the same as the Supercharger?

What can I say... It is a great little airgun.

Regarding the stock, yes, there is some play at the connection point, but I would not call it a weak point or so. At least I don't have the impression that it will impact the accuracy. Regarding the accuracy, that is simply good. The benefit of the QE version is that it quiet, but also offers a great and smooth cocking cycle. The shooting cycle btw is short and snappy and suits the shooting caracteristics of this carabine well.

The best sight option is a Red Dot. The open sights are good, but the rear sight sits on the 11mm rail and would fit the breech better imho. Regarding fitting a scope, the scope rails are too short I think and if you fit a scope you really need to have a short one like a leapers Bug Buster. But again, a red dot is the best option and also has the best looks 

I can definitely recomment this airgun if you like carabines and tactical looking airguns. Based on the low cocking effort, you can shoot this airgun all day long. No pumping or CO2 required.

Oh, I own the .177 caliber. But I think both calibers will do.

The internals are the same as the 25 Supercharger indeed, though the Supercharger has an anti recoil sled that the Supertact doesn't have.

What sort of grouping are you accomplishing at various ranges? I'm quite impressed with the accuracy of my Superchargers, and can manage 3/4" at about 12 yards on a good day using the open sights.

 I attempted to see if it was an easy swap between the vortex super and the spring versions, as it stands I put everything back in the original stocks, due to binding of the sled action, with grinding and possibly having 2 junk guns when done FWIW

I use the Supertact for plinking and target shooting up to 15yrds. Beyond that distance I am using other stuff.

But with target shooting at 15yrds I get dime sized groups with H&N Exite pellets (Hollow Points).

I am that enthusiastic about this airgun, that I am even contemplating to buy the .22 version as well. Maybe the spring version, just out of curiosity and to compare with the Vortex gasram version. And do a spring tune.

  I had one & had to send it back within 50 shots due to cracks, & a reduction in power . The rifle was very " off-center " in the stock assembly, as well. They sent a new rifle back that was fine. I never could shoot it accurately due to the wobble of the stock connection.

 The super tact does take a special hold/ lighter vs snug like the wobble tends to make one do, when using the shoulder stock, it does take a minute to figure it out. I did have to realign the front sight mount on one of mine.

Whereabouts was the crack situated, and has the new one been trouble free?

  If I remember correctly, one crack was at the forearm & one at the receiver, but it was long ago. The fps had dropped by about 20% , too. They sent another new rifle. It was fine, but of course still had the annoying wobble. I had to remember to push up [ or hold down] the barrel every time I got ready to shoot it.The wobble would throw the impact off 2 inches, vertically  I sold it a short time after getting it back. The pin removes the stock if you can use it as a pistol. You can also just buy that, alone. It shot over 600 fps , so it is a powerful pistol, but tough to cock.

I shot my one yesterday and although there is little play at the stock connection, "the wobble" does not impact my accuracy or that I can even talk about any wobble once I have lightly shouldered the Supertact.

What did remind me again of the only mistake they have made with engineering the Supertact is the placement of the rear open sight. That sits too much at the end of the action. It would have been better if they place the open sight on the rail. The rail is pretty short btw and only will give some clearance (distance to the breech) for 10 inch max sized scopes like a UTG Bug Buster. But I have put a Hawke red dot on it and that works great for me.

All in all, I like my Supertact. It is a cool carbine sized airgun, not too powerful (which benefits to the relatively lack of any recoil) and offers enough accuracy for target shooting and plinking. Due to the low cocking effort, it is a nice all day shooter

Really, have you measured it maybe ?

I have the Vortex gasram and the cocking effort is not too bad, certainly not 58 lbs. Maybe half of it to my experience ?

   I did not have a way to measure it, but it was STOUT ! I no longer have the rifle.
   It shows the 58 lb cocking effort as being the same for the spring or gas.

I have the QE SuperTACT (.22 version) but I'm frustrated to say that I have had to return two of them within first couple weeks, both for the same problem: broken sear spring -- This causes the trigger to not reset and makes the gun not only useless but potentially dangerous.

I'm actually trying to figure out as we speak how to take the trigger out (or at least to replace this spring with one I have in hand) without using a spring compressor to let tension off of the mainspring but I don't know that it's possible. I really really really do not want to ask Hatsan to replace it yet again but MANNNNN why can't they put a spring in there that doesn't break??? (GRRRRR)

With that said otherwise the SuperTACT is a real neat gun although I would have to say there are some caveats:

1.  The anti recoil sled in my supercharger never did bother me.... Not only this, but my Supercharger got better velocities (avg 510-513 w CPHPs) then my carbine but I will say that each pistol or carbine I have owned has varied quite a bit in max velocities attained. Here is the deal though... The anti recoil sled, in my humble opinion, greatly reduces hold sensitivity. Every single one of my superchargers was more accurate than my supertacts.... At least on average. Not by a huge amount, but enough to measure, at least with data.

2.  There is a POI difference between carbine and rifle and it is not small, and I'm not talking about the pistol being different because I'm yanking the trigger and it's moving... I mean if both of them are sandbagged or held with artillery hold they both exhibit a noticeable POI difference which is a bit frustrating if you want to take advantage of the fact that it changes from rifle to pistol.... Which to me, is the whole point. 

I am actually considering either returning my super tact and purchasing a supercharger again and just leaving it at that or simply making or purchasing a spring compressor and doing all my work from now on because Hatsan just takes so long to respond to customer service forms.... But at least once I sent the pistol to them they had it back to me in six days literally less than a week round trip

Oh, and one more thing:

My super tact is the 22 spring version, as all 22 superchargers and super tacts are spring version and I do not find the caulking effort very difficult at all, especially compared to my 125 sniper Vortex QE.
