Thanks for doing this review. I've long considered the Zoraki to be the perfect tackle box pellet pistol to be used while fishing inside of city limits for poisonous snakes and other bothersome pests that are occasionally encountered.

I have the non-Ultra in .177 with that butt stock and absolutely love it!! TKO can make you an LDC for it as well.

I was going to order one from Max Armory. i REALLY like this concept; but, instead I decided it would be a better investment to order a flat nose piston and flat nose valve along w/ a 'boss buddy' transfer port from Alchemy Airwerks for my Crosman .22 Backpacker.

I just watched the video. Very nicely done!!

It is my understanding that the non-Ultra can only be cocked up to three pumps. More than that and you risk over-pressure and cracking the chamber. The Ultra HP-01-2 was designed to take four pumps. You can tell the difference in that the non-Ultra has the shiny steel cylinder. The Ultra-2 has a blackened one. Also, on the upper cover it will say ULTRA. The non-Ultra is marketed as the LIGHT.

If you notice in the video, he has the shiny cylinder, which is probably why he says to only go three pumps. I'd be curios to see if his is actually stamped (or molded) with ULTRA on the side of the upper cover.

I was unaware that it came with a three inch longer barrel. Mine originally came with a .22 flush nose barrel, meaning that it was flush with the nose of the upper cover. I eventually lucked out and got a .177 threaded (extended, but not three inches past) barrel on which I put a very nice TKO moderator. I would imagine that Mike at TKO could make you a slip on for the longer barrel as in the video.

There are not enough good things to say about the trigger. It is just awesome!!

Same thing for accuracy, and as the reviewer stated, it just gets plain boring at 10 meters.

One other thing worthy of mention - When it was sold by Webely as the Alecto, it was still made by Zoraki for Webley, so if you find an actual Alecto, it is and always was a Zoraki. Nothing has changed since Webley dropped the model and Zoraki took over.

I say this in comparison to the Webley Tempest, which originally was made in England, and is now (since 2005) made in Turkey. Those are definitely NOT the same gun. If you want a quality Tempest, get one that was made in England.

As for Crosmans, you bet! I'm deep in the rabbit hole on those and have FT valves and pistons in most of mine (check my gun list). Whereas you can bring a Crosman 13xx up to (nearly) the accuracy of the Zoraki, you will never, ever, get close to its great trigger. Trust me, I've done all the personal mods possible and commercially available for Crosman triggers and you will just not be able to match it. The Zoraki trigger is just the best, right out of the box. Not to mention that it only takes three or four pumps on a Zoraki to equal the power of ten pumps on a Crosman, I don't care what mods you do it.

JMHO being the owner of both guns.

I really wish I hadn't seen this thread because I just ordered an Ultra in .177 from Arprotech.

The EURO is at €1.08 to the US dollar. I have never seen it that low in the 17 years I've been tracking it! With shipping the total came to US$ 262 and change.

That, my friends, is a great deal for this gun!! Keep in mind that the .22 is €10 more.

Granted the group John fired at 20 yards was 0.41 in size, I can do 0.50 groups at 20 yards w/ my Backpacker using the cheapo 4X32 that came with my Crosman Optimus. When I swap out the piston/valve w/ the FT's, I'm also going to swap out the scopes & put my Daisy Winchester 2-7X AO on it. I'll see if the groups shrink w/ the better scope.

3 to 4 pumps for the Zoraki vs 10 for the Backpacker? True, but I'm sure you noticed in the vid John was having to use some elbow grease for that 3rd pump and the couple of times he did 4 pumps, more so. I'm sure you have noticed the difference on the 3rd & 4th pumps yourself.

Whereas the pumps for my Backpacker w/ the (old model) 760 pump handle I have on it (& my scoped 1377 too) are pretty effortless. And fast too.

Max Armory says the fps for 4 pumps is 574 fps. John got 540 fps the 1st time & approximately 550 fps the 2nd time w/ 4 pumps. Will I get at least 550 fps w/ the FT mods and the Boss Buddy transfer port? Hopefully, I will.

Ya got me on the trigger pull though. My Backpacker trigger can't match the Zoraki's trigger. That is a nice trigger. I've got a lighter sear spring than the OEM spring in mine; but, I don't think the pull is 1.67 lbs.

I'll probably be getting the Ultra HP-01-2 eventually. I just wanted to mod my Backpacker first, at this time. I do most of my shooting w/ it.

UPDATE - I received an email from Arprotech this morning. Most of it was in French, but in English it states very simply "Shipment not possible. Refund."

Perhaps that vendor cannot ship airguns to the US as many in Europe do not. I did receive the HP-01 butt stock with no problem however, and that was last year.

Maybe for the best after all. Really, the last thing I need is another air gun.

Shooting Pigeons with the .22 cal Zoraki HP-01 Ultra. I have a suppressor adapter and a Sumo Suppressor along with a 3 moa Burris FastFire III red dot sight.
This gun is laser accurate to 20 yards, I shot my first 1 hole group with this set up. At 30 yards it opens up just a bit but still very accurate.
I am shooting Predator Polymags - the full size ones.

UPDATE Deux (because they were French) - So it seems that after emailing Arprotech and inquiring about my order, their English is even worse than my two years of High School French (literally, 50 yrs. ago!!).

Following, verbatim, was their reply when I asked why the order did not go through...

Dear M,
The order is cancel, normally we did not take the money on the account.
If not you will see the refund quickly.
Guns are forbidden by airplane place company.


Seriously, that is a direct copy of their response to my email.

Et ainsi, ahem,.... moving forward now. I did get the refund. Actually, the whole transaction just disappeared from my bank account as if it never happened. 

Moving further forward, I called Max Armory today and asked them about the status of their listed Zoraki HP-01 Ultra. A very nice person by the name of John spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone and explained that they normally only sell "blank" guns, but given their association with Zoraki (who also sells mainly blank guns and replicas) they just decided to include the HP-01 air pistol among their line-up.

Now this is a very good thing for us, as those pistols are extremely hard to obtain, and they are an extremely good pistol for the money. Currently, Max Armory is only ordering them in .22 caliber, but if there is any interest in .177, they can order those as well. This (airgun) market for them is sort of a test to see what people are interested in.

After speaking with John at MaxArmory, and seeing that I got my refund from Arprotech (and also twisting my stupid mind into thinking that I actually DO need (want) another airgun), I placed a pre-order for the HP-01 Ultra in .22 caliber.

John at Max explained that they can only predict when the product will arrive, as apparently there is some sort of religious holiday going on over there in Turkey which is delaying their order from Zoraki (and please, no offense to those who observe that Holiday - it's my own ignorance about such things here).

Anyway, there is an order in progress, and the anticipated ship date (from Max) is somewhere around mid June.

This is an even better deal than I thought I had with Arprotech!!

John also informed me that they can get parts for them. 

Guys and Gals, these are really great pistols, so if you want to get in on one of these, I highly suggest that you call John or Tom at Max Armory and get one on order.

LOL, yes. Max armory did take my money immediately, but I'm OK with that. After speaking with John there I feel confident that they will either give me my product or refund if it doesn't go through.

As for 2017 or 2018, I was not yet into the airgun world on this level.
