wind always wins

OK...am bored...social/viral lock down (New Orleans).
Wind always wins.
Have found (social media) that the folks with hobbies (stamp collectors re orgainizing their stamps, fly fishermen tieing flies, hot rooders cranking on hot-rods, etc.) are spending a lot of time on thier hobbies.
We wouldn't be shooting if we weren't arigunners.
Knowing that a front was coming, picked a coiuple of good soild/stable airguns to do the amintanece and then fill-n-shoot yeasterday.
Out of the stock....barrel off/on to clean...screws tightened (if needed) and everything cleaned and looked after.

Before someone points out that these are POS airguns ....are certainly old ceap DIY guns....they are cheap, but not POS or they'd not be running for +10 years.
SLACK WIND.
Waited out the slight wind until the wind flags/tell-talesshowed it was the same between each shot.

Being out of the stock/barrel on and off,did change the POI a bit. Must be stable rifles as they went all togeter again without a drasic change. One 5 shot group, a few cleicks, and they were back "on".
DO YOUR OWN MEASURING OF GROUPS....it's got a dime on the target....are 1/2" swaures....are on 1/4"graph paper.
.22 QB79 does look better than it is....big holes clustered closer togeter do look better than little holes clustered just as close together in C-T-C measure. Big holes LOOK closer togeter than little holes
So (as expectaions) todays wind was not only a lot higher...but a head wind. Same rifles, stayed stable, same pellets, same crhorographed vel. energy, up to me to try and wait out the perceived wind until it got to to "even".
I hate headwinds (or tail winds). A littles shift in direction form the side NOT make as much differnece as the same few degrees from the front or the rear.
Same 1/2 squares...same rifles...same pellets from the same tins....same wait out to where it seemed to be "slack" wind.

My ability to wait-out the wind for a good time to pull the triger is WORTH MORE than whatever the little differcnes there are in pellet size/BC difference.

Great shooting! You have some awesome QB's! And oh no, I wouldnt make the mistake of calling QB's "cheap POS" guns. They are Sleepers. I have enough parts now to build 9 QB's. 7 of them will be wearing LW or custom CNC barrels, tuned, and with 2 stage triggers, some with multishot Breeches. Jason has the first QB79 shooting at .26 CTC at 30 yards. Not bad for a "cheap POS" gun.
The best part is if I accidently ding one of them, which I do often, I dont cry...

I love cheap fun.
I'm about 45 miles south of new Orleans
The wind was wild today but in the .357 I shot it did not effect it much.
In .22......maybe near sea level and high humidity.
I find 100 yard shooting a real challange down south.

Only have a short range during lock-down....more than strong enough wind to have to account for it....and varaible so you have to guess a bit on each shot.
No rush in paper shooting.....can just wait for the calmest repeating cycle and make little sight guesses.
Guess the point of this is to go ahead and shoot even if it's windy....groups won't be nearly as small as perect condtions, but at least you'll get wind-guessing practice.
