Lost my main Hunting permission

I'm very sorry to hear. We lost property that my family has hunted for close to 70 years because it was sold and the new owner told us we did "a terrible job managing the deer and we shouldn't have taken anything less than 8 points". 173 acres of prime property gone.

When that guy's property gets overrun with hogs tearing up his place he'll regret that decision.

But this is not that kind of property,

This is wild country, I have to make my own trails and have for almost a decade now.

Nobody goes back there it can and it is full of Pigs but it will always be, wild backcountry.

*10yrs* of hunting there with no problems then just 1 eff up from some idjit gets you the boot too. That just sukz rotten eggs. I wouldn't want my cow shot either but that's way overreacting with you hunting there all that time without issue. I don't like people penalizing others for the act of one jerk but it's their land to do as they see fit wrong or right.

Problem is the cow was shot at the ranch I have to go through to get to the property I hunt,...the pressure put from the rancher buckled the property owner, gotta stay friendly with the neighbors.

Congrats Manny on the new REX .357 rifle. Had mine out yesterday hunting Turkey and really enjoying it. Very sorry to hear about the Permission, but hopefully the land owner will change his mind when he sees the destruction those Oinkers can do to the land in the wild.

I hate that there's feral pigs out there that no one has permission to shoot.
Those things destroy ecosystems.

You lose any property out there?

In Texas a lot of guys, when they lose a lease, lose all their stuff with it.  Might be given a window to get it and get out, if you miss it thats on you without regards to your job or what you have going on. 

Dudes have lost their ATV's and feeders, blinds, etc.

No I had nothing material on the property,.....but,

In expectation of a great summer fruit season I spent a lot of time building a network of ground blinds, I was so stoked about them, great locations, well made blinds,

also Machete cut several new trails for different directions entry in certain locations.
Many, many hours of work all lost now unfortunately.

Sorry to hear you lost your permission Manny. Hopefully something else becomes available to you. It never ceases to amaze me on the stupidity of the human race. Perhaps later on in the season you could re-approach the land owners and regain permission. I can see why your bummed, that is some beautiful land you hunt on. I'm sure just being out there provides a certain amount of peace. Good luck. And congrats on the new gun(s).

There's no farming in this property, it's just mountains, steep mountains and jungles, it makes no difference on the land owner if it's not hunted he will not even notice the difference,.....this is true wild backcountry land.

Manny, I truly feel for you.  I have enjoyed reading your posts while hunting you permission, it does look unspoiled.

Perhaps the ranch where the cow was shot will see that pesting is part of farming and ranching.

Truth about the "wild invasive feral swine" that "plagues farmers" is that hunters often prove to be the worse of two evils.

Most land owners just don't trust people and for good reason.  There is always an a-hole ready to ruin it.

Also to be honest you are not gonna make a difference in feral pigs with an air rifle.  They are too fecund.  If you are not trapping them aggressively and then using night vision to shoot the ones that remain after dark, you'll never put them in check.

Farmers and ranchers learned the hard way that you can't trust most hunters that want to "do you a favor" and shoot your pigs. that is why there are no free pig hunts in Texas.

Besides that, invasive and destructive as they may be, it's still a resource that has value.

So now, if a landowner is gonna risk letting you on his land to hunt pigs, you gotta pay to play most of the time.

So I hope you can catch that a-hole that shot that cow and give him a little bit of island justice.
