To get to this wonderful location I had to drive through a big ranch,

couple week ago some idiot hunter shot a cow on the ranch, and I got word yesterday that I won't be able to use that land anymore for hunting.

This is huge, since we can't hunt state lands with airguns here, that immense property was an incredible gift that is now lost forever.

You are not alone my friend, I have lost several permissions because of somebody else's stupidity. Some people will never learn. Sorry to hear about that Manny. Hopefully you will be able to find another place to enjoy.

My brother and I had the best spot you could ever want many years ago on private land for deer and the same thing happened someone shot one of her cows quartered it up and left the rest. Needless to she she closed hunting entirely and I can't say as I blame her. The sad part was she was a really nice lady too. Since then you need written permission to hunt private land now. I do have another spot that I can hunt (35 acres) but it's a 40 mile drive too, maybe I'll get out there and scope it out one of these days.

Manny, that's really crushing.
You have so many stories from there. I know that is hard to take.

Some hunters buy hunting insurance. I don't know where to find it, but I've heard of it. In the event that livestock is lost the insurance pays for the cow.

I don't know how much a cow costs in Hawaii, but they're about $1500 here now.

The sad part is that it probably somebody on their first hunt. That's not rare.

Back in the early 90s I had about two hundred acres of woodland to hunt for whatever was in season. The owner gave me a special key for the gate. The adjoining property was a 400 acre horse farm that looked like a high class golf course. I went out one morning to do a bit of deer scouting and my key didn't work. I drove to the house to find out what happened. The owner told me someone cut the locking chain, went though the property and left ever gate open. It took the farm hands 16 straight hours of work to round up all the loose horses and get them back to the right fields and corrals. Needless to say that property was off limits from that point on.
Sorry about your permission Manny, but it never fails that one idiot can ruin it for everyone.

I'm sorry to hear the news about your permission, it only takes one person to screw it up for the good folks out there that respect the land, leave no trace, messes, damaged property, etc. Maybe give the landowners some time and approach them again in the near future for hunting access.

There is always a bad apple or ~~cov~~idiot that will do something incredibly careless or stupid and spoil it for those folks that care and are responsible adults.

Man that stinks, I hope maybe time can heal the wound perhaps and maybe you can get back in. I lost a piece of land in WV because some dude hunted on a Sunday, even though it's legal in WV, but the land owner told everyone no Sunday hunting...and thanks to that jerk the land was lost and never gained back. Thankfully we had other land but that land was the best by far.

Here in MD it's extremely hard to find private land. I got lucky in that my neighbor has a horse farm and her tractor broke down. I went over and towed it up for her and while we were talking I was just mentioned I hunt and she said I could hunt. I was shocked as my neighbor told me she was very anti hunting but she has since changed that stance just because there are too many deer in MD (and not enough people that hunt, especially where I am). I ended up missing a nice buck and taking a small doe over there this year and hope that I can find a new job so we can stay here...there's nothing like a less than 5 minute walk to be in the woods and hunting. I also go over there all the time and help her mend fence and do some bush-hogging for her as she is a busy woman and works a ton. I never ask for a dime and am just glad to help her, and would whether she let me hunt or not, but that's just how I am.

Again Manny, sorry for you loss and I hope you can get back in or find somewhere else my friend.

Man that sukz! I have no use for people like that. There are a lot of idjits in this world suffering the rest of us. If I was that owner I'd be doing everything I could to find the puke who did that. I don't get punishing everyone else for the bad act of one. You consistently hunted there without issue. Sure hope you're able to find a good spot eventually.

big variety of different envinroments, there's a valley with a huge mango grove, been monitoring the flowering and looks like it's gonna be a great year for mangoes and that means all summer great hunting in that valley.

ordered and will get my new REX .357 tomorrow,
The other hunting grounds require going through neighborougs or trails of some kind so Backpacking is essential, the REX Mini-Carbine with the extra tank from the REX rifle is the perfect backpacking hunter

Sorry to hear you lost that permission. Texas is also weird about airguns on public land. With all the new airgun friendly legislation, you'd think they would allow the air guns on state land.

Nope! It's like they put all this time and research into a decision that allows airguns, but then you still can't use them.

To be fair most Texas hunters hunt provate land, with less than 0.1 acres of public access per capita in this state.

Anyway not to threadjack. I sure hope that you can get that permission back over time, and I hope they catch that a-hole and he gets crucified!

But this is not that kind of property,

This is wild country, I have to make my own trails and have for almost a decade now.

Nobody goes back there it can and it is full of Pigs but it will always be, wild backcountry.
