Need Help w/ NP Trail Repair Rifle Tuned by Longtime Member now MIA

I have a first-generation Benjamin Trail NP with Laminated stock that was tuned by a guy named 'Shadow' about 5 years ago. Now the "dang" thing doesn't work at all, and the guy who tuned it has gone MIA. Can someone refer me to a reputable repair tech, please? I spent $100 on the tune, $25 on the trigger plus whatever for the gun. I'd hate to just throw it away...thanks

Explain what "doesnt work at all" means.
Shadow is a well respected member here. He tuned a Gamo Whisper for me way back when.
He has had health issues in the past and he post when his strength allows it. You may need to put out a post for a tuner to do your gun, dont think Shadow is tuning any more,

When you say "doesn't work at all", I'm guessing that it either will not cock, or when cocked it will not fire, or when it fires the pellet doesn't leave the barrel. But that's three different guesses with a couple different (at least) possible issues.  My first guess (without knowing anything more than your original post) is that the nitro part of your nitro piston rifle no longer holds enough nitrogen to compress.  If so, it's an easy fix. Order the part from Crosman and have it installed. They tend to lose power over the years and all you can do is replace them. If that's NOT the problem, what IS going on? More detail on the rifle issue can bring clarity.

The gun discharges with a slight hiss, and Shadow promised to send me a new one last September. Then he promised again in January. At this point, I'm just looking for a new tuner, but I can't seem to find a 'services' area of GTA. Do I need to post a thread someplace else to find a tuner? Any recommendations? Thanks guys

Many tuners will not touch a Crosman due to the price of a tune relative to the value of the gun.  You could try Ole Tom Cat or White Fang.  If you're willing to work on your own gun the folks here can provide instruction.

If it has normal cocking effort, you need a piston seal. I would also order a breech O-ring at the same time. Vortek has seals, you just have to find somebody with the same gun to verify the seal diameter. Most Crosman/Benjamin guns take the 25mm seal in the original NP models. There are a few ultra magnum powered guns like the VTR 725 that might be different. Not sure if the Trail XL was one of them.

There are youtube videos on how to change the seal. you will need a Harbor Freight 48" bar clamp and an old socket around 3/4 in to remove the piston.

send it to the guy that taught me, Oletomcat... or wait abit till I get the videos of a basic tune done (only been 7 years in the making but i'm now just a camera away from actually doing them)....these rifles are about as hard to fix as they are to box up and ship...


wait a sec...hiss?...breech seal?.....what condition is the rubber ring around the loading port in?...if you lay a kleenex on top of the rifle hinge and shoot it does the kleenex get blown around?

No ... actually sounds like STUCK pellets / Bore obstruction present.  Hiss being the air compressed upon firing slowing bleeding away.

Ya I can see a stuck pellet making a hissing noise. I have never had one stuck but I have had a bad seal at the breech do it to. Not so much the seal bad but the machining of the grove that the seal went into was cut to deep had to add a shim under the seal. It was funny because the heavier the pellet that I shot the more it would hiss. Drove me nuts until i found it!  The fact that he says it's a slight hiss leads me to think it's the breach. Mine was a slight hiss to. But no matter it's easy to check the barrel. Maybe a quick fix!
