Yay (its a fun gun, certainly not the most practical)

I know this is an old thread but I just saw it so here is my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.....

I have a 30's in .177 and .22. I know that the .177 is the perfect fit for this gun but the .22 is a blast with open sights. Keep in mind in by backyard my longest shot is no more than 23 yards. Even with open sights and offhand I have zero problem hitting gatorade caps. Plenty of power for starlings and pigeons within that range as well. As an added bonus it shoots the cheap RWS Hobby pellets better than anything else...

There is just something satisfying with the sound when the slow heavy chunk of lead hits something. That said it is a fun gun for me. If forced to choose between calibers I would go .177 but luckily I have both and enjoy them both.

Shot more .22 pellets through my one and only HW30 in .22. It's still doing its thing. But it really is limited to short range.

I have a few examples of the HW30, including a .22. The .22 has different feel when firing and is extremely pleasant, to that the .177s are not just that the .22 feels different. Loading pellets is of course a bit easier.

Out to 20-25 yards they are about equal in accuracy, past that the .177, of course, shoots flatter.

I have had this .22 (Beech Stock) for many years and still shoot the *(&^ out of it. As a matter of fact I was messing with these a few nights ago.

They are Air Force adaptive rear sights.

I have them on a few air rifles. I like diopter/ring type sights.

Yes! The power level is ridiculous yet the performance is outstanding. More so than in .177 to me.

Yeah but I don’t understand why you think it won’t last??? As in why it would mechanically fail. Or were you saying you thought the feeling wouldn’t last.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying, but I find the power to be adequate, and it shoots lighter pellets even faster.

I've got a HW30 in 177 & really like it for backyard dossing.

Also considered getting one in 22, but have taken a back seat since hearing about regular "stringing" problems with some HW30s.

Maybe FWBsport is referring to this problem?

Look for old reports from Glover. He was knowledgable and preferred the HW 30 in .22.
Since we are being extreme, how about an HW 30 in .25?
