Is A 3/8" Hole, At 30 Yds A Bit Much?

I spent some time modifying some of my Crosman resettable squirrels yesterday. Basically added a steel plate over the kill zone hole. The one I've set at 30 yards is drilled at 3/8". Quite challenging for this .22 springer shooter. Is this size distance combo even worth practicing, as it pertains to a potential Field Target encounter?

Well that is a great question.  I love that it involves FT training.  3/8 @30 yards......what scope setup and what do you see through the cross hairs?
I know with my PCPs I would have trouble knocking down that hole too much but I would eventually and I wold practice at it a lot...... LOL!

 If it gets too frustrating make the hole a bit bigger, but the extra challenge is often good.

The size of the bullseye in relation to distance is always considered in field target. The size to distance difficulty guidelines in FT is called " the Troyer scale".

Yes, 3/8 is only for very close targets.

I guess I either need to enlarge the hole, or move it up closer.

  Or, just challenge yourself and shoot at it where you are happy with it being.

  Could serve as a point for bragging rights amongst a gathering of informal shooters.

  By the RULES it is a no go, but unless you are running a sanctioned event, no worries, have fun!
