Hi Liz,

What is the Number of  Post Require to be considered legitimate.

I joined in 2018, but have not been active.

I am still a newbie by any means.

I have started trying to get my post numbers up.

On my second attempt to contact a seller, I did get an abrupt comment that I must be a scammer.

What constitutes legitimate in your mind?  If you're seeking to increase your post count head over to the New Members area.  Greet new members as they come on board, welcoming them to GTA.  Each greeting counts as one post.

Dont know if this is the answer but some things require membership to be 30 days and have at least 20 post.

I think that question lies in ACTIVITY within any web forum.   Low or lacking in participation to many says there's a lack of interest in being legitimate.   If one were to be asked such a question

Disagree..... Many come here looking for an answer/solution to a particular issue then never come back. Many get that answer then hang around but dont post.

and from direct observation here and other places, many are intimidated to post anything for fear of being "challenged" or coming off as stupid. You could interpret the "stupid" as not having anything to add to the convo....   so if ya cant add anything to the discussion, whats to post?  ALL online communities have this issue.

Unless you are an industry mole or a scammer, you are legit.  I post way too much! You have the discretion to only speak when you have something to say.  Good for you!

if you're referring to the classifieds, it depends on the seller.  some want to recognize your name/avatar before they will do business with you.  others will look to see how long you've been a member, and others will look at how many posts you have.


it depends on the individual and what makes them feel comfortable dealing with you.

Like you I have been a member for a while, maybe a long while. Did one buy and made some kind of procedural error which got me in trouble. Completed the buy but decided to just read here which I do regularly. Now ready to get more active in the airgun community, start shooting some competition again and maybe have a few items to sell. So I understand that I need twenty posts to add pictures so here we go - Number 3. This is a test for me to see how a standard post comes out as then I can try some of the add on stuff.

As far as I am concerned, there isn't a specific number of posts which make one "legitimate".
Since you joined in 2018 and have so few posts, members have probably just assumed that you joined with the purpose of getting one question answered, or maybe so that you could have full access to the site, but were not interested in participating, so didn't perceive you as someone who is really *into* airguns.

I am sorry to hear that you have been treated abruptly, and hopefully that will be the exception rather than the rule (for ALL members here. )

If you don't feel quite knowledgeable enough to participate in the airgun-related threads, you might consider joining in on a few of the off-topic threads in the Back Room, and keep reading the airgun threads, learn from the information in our library, and do more actual shooting until you feel more comfortable in the airgun subject threads.

Carl, for me, that applies to the whole business world.  Example:  I don't go to a restaurant the day it opens.  I don't buy a new vehicle the first year it is available.  I look for brand names I recognize in the grocery store.   And, Generation II air guns are usually improved over the Generation I models.  ETC.
