Looks like that DAQ has a dovetail on the receiver.... I thought the new ones had Weaver mounts?....

It's dove tail.

Foster quick connect is on the way. I am not going to shoot it until I KNOW exactly how much air is in it. Came with a foster dust cover for the gun, a barrel thread protector in case you want to remove the LDC, and 5 types of 'slugs.' I had to change my vocabulary to slugs instead of 'pellets.'

Here they are:

From the left to right
129 gr, 132gr, 114, 114,76

I plan on weighing them and group them into piles of the same weight. Not sure I need to for a big bore, but what the heck, the foster fitting for my tank won't be here for a few more days.

I also don't see an obvious safety on this gun so I need to re-read the manual posted on line. Not that it's a big deal, my Anschutz doesn't have one either, but I need to know to be sure. Can't play around with this or any airgun for that matter so I want to be sure.

The scope is a 'Famous Maker' and not deserving of this DAQ. My Leopold 6.5x20 EFR is.

I think the separate cocking of the hammer is supposed to take the place of a safety.... WAG here....

This is an older DAQ......easy to tell by the exposed loading bolt.

It is # 238, whatever that means. It has been WELL taken care of from what I can tell and the seller has already told me that if there is a problem of any kind to ship it to Eric Henderson and he will pay for it to be fixed. The only thing I can foresee is an O-ring being dried out or something.

The bore is clean and there is no rust of any kind anywhere. Those scratches on the butt are hardly noticeable and don't bother me a bit.

I have been checking out the scope and it seems to be just fine for an air gun with little recoil so I may just leave it on. It was made in a Tasco factory and the optics are very clear. It won't focus at below 25 yards very well but that is not important to me as being clear. Once I lock it down if it doesn't float around then I will be OK with it.

My DAQ got some new eyes! Took off the POS 'Famous Maker' and mounted the Leopold 6.5x20 EFR. Now I can draw a LOT of light longer than most other scopes. Now all I need is a http://www.texasboars.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=22_43 and I will be good to go day or night.

The female Foster fitting will be hear tomorrow so this weekend I'll be running some 115gr slugs through it to figure out the ballistic curve with a sight in range of 50 yards. I don't expect to shoot past 100 yrds but running the numbers at 875fps I'm looking at a 13" ark over 100 yards. Eric Henderson said it would be around 850 to 875 at a 3000PSI fill. He also recommended a carbon fiber tank to be able to charge it to 3500psi but no dive shops around here will go that high. SO, knowing that I won't be able to use it past this charge of 3000psi I am looking to see what groups I can get at what I have available to me.

Friday I will rent a few tanks and run a few through it at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yrds. This should tell me the curve and tell me where to aim using the cross hairs in the scope. I don't plan on 'clicking the scope' at all but can use it at 20 power to range various points in my shooting lane to see if it is a hold over or under.

It's gonna be fun!!

gun is beautiful by the way. that stock is awesome. just 1 semi real ?, how can a connoisseur cook such as yourself drink natural light?

that's like a 2 day old convience store hot dog. ok if it falls into the free and cold category.

i like to use hold over vs clicking scopes as well. gun that nice deserves a leupold scope.

Busted. I like cool expensive toys but beer is beer. Cold being the key word.

Hold over under is not what I am good at or won with. I'm a clicker. But since I quit competing and started hunting I think I can adapt pretty good with a little practice.

So far I got it figured out that a 10 yard PERFECT zero will be the best out to 100 yards. I'll be within 1" or so out to 60yrds and then it drops drastically toward -8.43". In the 20 to 50 range it will be 1 to 1.6" range high and will be easy to see at that range through a good scope.

Going for hog shots within that range I figure at 100 hold just over the head.
We will see.

Ron, in the pics above, you have your gun laying on what appears to be a shooting table. From what little I can see of it, it looks a lot like the one I have. I got it from a friend who had just bought a real nice and expensive one. He was going to throw this one away, so I got it instead. It folds down flat and is light as a feather. It has no markings on it to give me a name of manufacturer or where it came from. I've had several folks say that they would like to have one like it, but I dont even know where to tell them to look for it. Can you show a full pic of yours and do you know where or if they can still be bought?
