Butcher,

Was that the guy shooting my slugs? I've had a number of DAQ owners buy the unsized slugs as they are more accurate than the ones sized to exactly .308.

You will have the power to reach out a lot further than 50 yards with a powerful .308 air rifle........more like 100+yards (conservatively). Use some sort of hold-over reticle scope.

Keep us informed on your progress figuring out which slugs work best for you out of your .308DAQ.

Nah .309 won't matter. Like most of the heavy custom .25 slugs/pellets are 0.251" or 0.252". Korean guns work better with 0.252" and Condors with 0.251. Lead is generally soft so they will conform to the bore. It's the breach that might be an issue, where you have to push a little harder to load the slug.. but you have a bolt with the DAQ, so that won't be an issue.

Having a ramrod on hand in case you need to free-up slugs stuck in the breech (from the muzzle) wouldn't be a bad idea. Not having one could potentially end your day of shooting.

Make that a solid piece of aluminum or brass and a hammer and do not forget to remove the scope before you start swinging that hammer . Marvin

A question though. The DAQ manual says the bore is exactly .308 and most of the pellets I am finding are .309. Will this matter???

I went hunting with a guy using a .308DAQ, and the .309's proved to be more accurate in his rifle with the design he was using. They were a very tight load, though.

The DAQ manual says that the 309 will only reduce the velocity by about 25fps. I'm thinking that shouldn't matter much to me if it hits where I point it. I'm checking into sizers too.

So to recap:
1. get slugs around the 100 to 130 range and consider a sizing die
2. Get scope with mil dots for hold over/under
3. Get push rod to dislodge a stuck slug
4. Rent some tanks for plenty of play time
5. Find the most accurate and work within it's kill range
6. Size and group slugs according to their weight and size so the ammo will be the same when hunting.(Found this out competing. Used to size and weigh all my pellets for a match.)

AND. Never let Breaux even touch it!
