2 Tiny/little springs?
«

Hey Guys
I went to clean/polish up and adjust the Crosman 160 trigger, (looks just like the QB 79 trigger), EXCEPT,
When I removed the side plate,
I found 2 tiny little springs that are 90* to the holes where the adjustment screws are located.............?
These springs provide pressure on the top and middle adjustment screws?
These springs are the same size as the 1377 grip/safety springs etc.
Anyone have an Idea why these springs are there, I don't believe that these springs are OEM?
From what I can tell, this trigger as never been opened/messed with, as the screws are perfect, no marks etc.....
and checking all the diagrams I can find, there is NO 2 tiny springs in the 160 trigger, I can find....
Thanks,
Don

I am curious because you said it is just like the QB trigger, I believe yours to be a 3rd variant 160.
Here is a pic of mine.
No springs you are describing.

Here is a photo of my 160 trigger, the 2 tiny springs are on each side of the silver colored rod point.
You have to look close to see them, enlarge the photo.........

I hope this photo shows them.

Gotchya!
Very interesting, the only thing I can imagine is they would keep tension on the screws.

That is the same concussion, I came too.
I just wonder if it is an OEM test platform etc.
I have located the serial number, but don't know how to decipher it, to find the year built etc.
Thanks,
Don

Yes those are to keep tension on the screws. I think they decided the springs weren't needed pretty early on. Dave

There can't be many models that have this type of trigger,
is there any others that have those tiny springs in the trigger housing?
These tiny springs are in a 160 Crosman, 3 variant, unknown year........trigger housing.

My second variant 400 does not have them. See my pic on " My Free Crosman 400" thread.

My 1400 doesn't have them either. I agree with the comments that they are there to tension the screws so adjustments will not change due to vibration. Best guess.

Those were common on the cast-trigger versions of the 180/187 as well.

Thanks Jon
By any chance would you have a photo of a cast trigger version 180/187, with those springs?
Thanks,
Don

Sure, photo attached. The two springs put tension on the sear engagement and overtravel screws on the left of the trigger unit.

Thank you for the photo, that also matched my 160- 3 Variant trigger.
By any chance do you know how to figure out, the serial numbers for year of manufacture etc,
Or does anyone know this info?
Thanks,
Don
