H&N Grizzly slugs vs Flashpup

Got bored and had a tin of 31 gr Grizzly slugs so I set up a 30 yd target, grabbed some sand bags and slung a 10 rd group. Yeah that didn't go well at all. First 2 missed a 3" target by about 6", next one about an inch away and the last 7 measured 2 9/16" C to C. I put them back on the shelf and reloaded my JSB pellets lol.

I haven't had any luck with H&N Grizzly's in the following guns/barrels:  Edgun RM3 Lothar Walther, Gauntlet .25, 70FPE QB78 PCP with Crosman XL725 barrel, nor a late model crosman Mrod barrel (not GM) in a P15. 

I believe I saw 1 post in the Long Range board where an Airforce owner had acceptable results with Grizzly's....

I tried them in my Hatsan 95QE  Miss my trap at 20 yards- twice.  So I decided to use them in another fashion.


I confirmed later that day that Grizzlies from a flatband slingshot will kill pigeons.

They seem to work good in my airforce condor. I guess I am lucky

Try them in in several guns with terrible results, same with the .357s

thank you for the scientific proof we all have been waiting for — the proof that the Grizzly pellets aren't only useful as paper weights, but as ammunition — for hunting!

Sure, their BC will be a little less than the 0.070 given by the manufacturer.
But hey... — pigeon'z det, all good!!!  😄

It's a probe thing, needle nose probes leave the tail of the Grizzly above the transfer port.

Only in the .357 Grizzly the skirt is to long and hangs over the Transfer ports,....for that reason I filled the back cavity with light airsoft ammo ( that fits perfectly )

I don't know how I missed the thread Manny put up about the Winchester not liking the Grizzlies. I ended up ordering a tin and holy moly...I'd be lucky if 1 in 3 shots actually hit a 12x12 target box. 

For anyone with a .357 Winchester, proceed with caution when using slugs. Mine does not like slugs at all. She sure loves her JSBs, though.

I had relatively good luck with my .25cal bt65. Atleast at 20yards it groups quite tight with the occasional flyer. Got the "LW" barrel by hatsan.

I don't know if .357 Win is different from Evanix but .357 Evanixes do acceptable groups with light bullets.

I've got almost a full tin in 25 cal, so far I haven't had good luck with them but I do have an SPA M11 MK2 coming soon that I can try them in.
I thought about melting them down but that would taint my pure lead in the pot so they're still kicking around.

I too have had good results with the Grizzlys in my Airforce Condor .25 cal out to 50 yards plus. Have moved to NSA slugs for that gun now that the slug pricing has come down.

Like I said, they perform admirable as slingshot ammo.

and they're not overly expensive in that regard, either.

the tin I have measure at ~.2495( Fowler micrometer)... My .25 Mrods (GM barrels)  did not like them... then I remembered to lube them... One barrel is just a touch tighter at the choke at ~ .249... it has no leade work yet and is set at ~45 fpe the griz are .5" to .75" at 50 yards... more .5 ish groups than .75... does not like the BBT 40g because the rear band needs a leade or it catches and the round is to short to load straight... the BBT shotgun out of it currently... does not like the 27g Benji pellets much either... really need to work on the leade...

 the other has leade work to be able to run the BBT 40g(sized to .2495 or .250 both work) which are .75" at 50 yards with fliers to about 1"-1.25" if they do not load perfect... The rear band catches on the very small ledge of my imperfectly done leade here and there...  this barrel is only choked to  ~.2495... did not like the Benji 27g till the leade work was done... now they are a close 2nd to the JSB Kings...this barrel does about 1.5-2"" at 50 with the 31g grizzly... will be trying to bump them up in size a touch soon( .250 drilled steel and a punch)...  Knurling did not help... feel at .2495 the grizzly at just a touch to loose in the barrel...

am using trident divers silicone as lube...

Slugs sometimes are plug and play but many times need sized/bumped for the barrel/choke to do their best...

I bought two cans last week to shoot in my 2540 pistol I built’
They look like worm weights’ figured I probably be going fishing’ lol 😂
I was wrong they shot real good @ 10-20yds’

My new .177 Flash is shooting Piledrivers really well (.5" at 15 yards). I wouldn't hesitate to use them inside 20 yards, which is all I need.

Similar mediocre experience with Grisslies.   I don't understand because they look similar to NSA's but perform much worse.

I also have checked out some  H@N Rabit Magnum pellets at caliber .177 and .22 whit horrible results . Only Piledrivers are shooting inside  2MOA at 70m. 
But probably I will checked them again whit prolonged pellet plug-in probe .
