I have found a store that still has some new 392's in stock.

What do you think, is it worth to buy one of the final wood 392's left ?

 I found one online store that thought they had wood 392s , but I was refunded  my $ within 24 hours  . I see Crosman has a notify when in stock notice on their site.

I would jump on it.  I wish I would have bought more than one, but I had no idea that it was being discontinued.

I have both a 2 year old wood 392 and a new synthetic 397s.
They both have exactly the same internal valve and mechanical parts.
The synthetic stock is good as the bland wood in my opinion.
My only complaint is the sight line - I cannot use the open iron or peep sights.

I think there a store not far from me that still has one. If someone wants me double check let me know. They are good folks and they might sell it online if someone wanted it.

maybe if enough serious buyers were to click on the "notify when back in stock" option, Crosman would get the hint the wood version is still the way to go.

Well the store in my area still has one, but they have raised the price from the last time I was there.  They are now asking $219

I foresee an aftermarket of wood stocks appearing at some point.  But until then, I'll be shooting my 392PA and grinning.

I signed up for notification from Crosman.   Not my top must have, but the wood version is preferred.

When I called Crosman a couple of weeks ago they indicated that the wood stock models had been discontinued
for 2-3 months. When I asked why I was told due to problems with the supplier matching the stock and pump handle
stain color. So I asked the question "So the only difference is a plastic stock and 80 bucks higher?" I was told yes.
I just ordered a 397P. We'll see. Hope this helps.

The problem here is the price of wood.  I do joinery.  The price of quality wood has risen steadily this century.  The quality of the wood available has declined.  For a company to mass produce inexpensive air rifles that are competitive in quality and price in today's market, plastic is becoming the only option.  Let's look on the bright side.  The value of the older models will increase.  There will be a market for after-market wood stocks that some smart fellow can exploit. And the plastic stock is tough, water resistant, and I don't care if it gets beat up.

Over three years ago while at the Crosman All American Field Target Shoot, I bought a brand new 392 to go along with a MUCH older 347 that I own.  Once home I tore apart the action of the new 392 and cleaned everything up, then installed a super sear trigger assembly from AoA.  A little special lube on all the moving parts and you would never know it was the same rifle.  So smooth now and the trigger is actually very nice!  Lastly I installed a Williams peep site.  Now, over 6,000 rounds later the rifle still shoots great.  In fact, I have shot it so much, some of the wood finish is beginning to slightly show wear from holding the rifle during the pumping action.  After seeing Crossman went to a plastic stock, I am glad I bought mine before they did.
