I have one that I did the set screw mod to and it works just fine. I installed set screws on all 4 corners of the mount and tightened them down until there was no more play but it would still slide like it's suppose to.

From what I saw on Amazon there is two different brands. Which one did you get?

I tend to be leery of one piece mounts on a Weaver rail.  Slots on a Picatinny rail are spaced at a standard distance - it's a military specification.  The same is not true of a Weaver rail.  I have to adjust my two piece mounts going from one Weaver rail to another.  Of course adding an adapter to a dovetail rail the scope height will go a bit higher yet.

I don't remember but I don'believe there was 2 offered when I bought mine. I do know I had to buy the adaptor because it was a pictiny mount and my M48 have doesn't that rail.

There were two available, one ohhunt, one mizagawa. I only have Mizagawa from AliExpress ($14). It has a lot of play so could not hold zero consistently. I plan to do the grub screw thing

I am thinking drilling on one end close to the eyepiece, two holes on top and two holes on the side

It's most likely something I'm not doing correctly, but I find searching on Ali frustrating.
Would you have a link to the dovetail model by any chance?

I have the Ohhunt from Amazon.  Too much slop to hold zero.  I had set it to the side to try taking up the slop and had not heard of the set screw mod until now.  I have enough of these and I think they will fit the bill perfectly.

That's the one I bought and with the mod I did holds zero real well and even after a couple hundred shots through my 48 a cheap no name scope that came with my Aspen still held zero.

This is the one I purchased last year and the fasteners striped out trying to remove it. I had to go knuckle dragger to get my scope out. You could probably shore up the sloppiness but frankly after handling a real Diana Z mount I would not bother with the copy. A good one piece mount and a tough scope IMO is a better option. 

The pictures in the add look far better than what you get.

So it's slop in the mount that loses zero, not a loose fit on the dovetail rail.
Is that correct?
