I don't have a chronograph. All I can offer is this little slice of holiday cheer....

Prior to the o-ring overhaul, and JB Weld mod, I was merely denting this target, which is stamped sheet metal, steel of some type.

Yesterday I tried open-sight shooting for an hour, and struggled on the consistency. Partly this is due to my poor vision. If I see the target clear with one pair of glasses then I could not see the sight clear, vice versa. Age does taking its toll on me.

Probably it is also harder to be consistent. I tried to form a triangle with the red fiber in front and the two green dot in the rear, and make the target on the same plane. But it is easy to be off, hard to be consistent.

Any tricks?

This has helped me, though I can not tell one from the other. If you find a single one cheaper, might be a better choice.

I did this as well, this morning, in reassembling mine, after the piston tweak.  I loosened the screws for that cross-collar, and, then took a sharpened wood #2 pencil, and, lightly bumped the eraser end with a wood dowel.
I then opened it back, and set the screws.
Result: A lot better pressure.
I could see where there was blow-by, prior to this.
I also lost the pop-open factor. It now needs to be opened. But, it sure seems like a whole lot more pressure that I developed since yesterday, along with the other tweaks.

Mine is very light right out of the clam shell. Probably the main reason they are so accurate.

Oh yeah! First thing I do. It's pretty simple as the ONLY thing one can do is stretch the trigger return spring, and I should stress here - DO THIS AT YOU OWN RISK!!.

I can take some measurements on my modded spring length and let you know what they are. I also disabled the safety as it was a tiny bit of a hindrance, but upon tuning the latest P17 for a friend, I found that just the spring stretch was sufficient. A bit of lubing helps as well, along with one other internal spring-thing attachment point.

I'll try to  take some pics here soon if there's any interest.

A device that uses the pinhole effect and may sharpen both the target and the sights is the Merit Optical Attachment. I think this unit may be adjusted for aperture size.

A pair of cheap pinhole sunglasses MIGHT also be an improvement.

I do not think that the pinhole effect will fix astigmatism.

One may test the pinhole effect for free with home made devices, even a piece of paper
with a pin hole.

The pinhole effect will also the eye to focus on items held very close to the eye.

I am in about the same boat. My dec 1st order of 1 shows delivery of Saturday and dec 6th order of 2 shows delivery tomorrow but none show being shipped yet. No charges yet either.
