Thanks, I put in an order.  There always seems to be another project calling for a 13ci tank.  The only issue I've run into with the off-brand regulators is creep and dressing the seat will generally take care of it.

Can I just say, the only gun I truly regret ever selling is the QB79 you made me. Simply incredible. What I wouldn't do to go back and tell stupid 18 year old me not to freaking sell it. I picked one of these tanks up to make a shorty QB79 conversion for old time's sake.

Apparently you can't find QB79's anymore. That's really sad. With the Disco and the QB79 being discontinued, that's the end of a very cool era.

Yeah good point, I noticed just recently that AGD doesn't have it listed any more.  However supposedly you can get the Umarex Gauntlet tank block for less than the 79 tank block so converting a 78 to a tanker is still very much a viable thing.  Kind of wasteful to have the long tube and forestock for a modest power levels though.

I only heard second hand they can be purchased direct from Umarex.  I have not ordered any myself.

Don't know if it matters to anyone, but I popped over to JDSAirman and he's going out of biz and selling off at a 50% discount.  13 cui bottle w/reg for $50.  I feel like I should buy something, but I don't think I have a use. 

Do you think, nervoustrigger, that the Brass Rebuild piston is something I could ever use in my Flex Cobra regulator or valve?  I've never torn into either, but I have some regulator creep...took a peek inside the housing but thought I better watch some vids before I even take it out of the block.  Just wondering if it's worth getting the piston for anything in the future...if anyone has advice (Flex, Synrod already modded w/huma - stock valve, Regal XL, Sumatra 2500 Will tweaked, Taipan and Cricket Derek W. tweaked, ATM and for a while).  Thanks.

Deepbass, most paintball type regulators I’ve worked on will accept a Ninja replacement piston so there’s a good chance the JDS one would work in your bottled Flex.  I’ve only used a JDS regulator on one project and it was a used one.  It was a creeper initially but that may have been because of use or abuse.  Dressing the seal on the end of the piston cured it.  So with that very limited experience I can’t say how good the JDS valve seats are in general.  If you don’t have the means or the confidence to dress the seat, my suggestion would be to instead try a Ninja replacement.  Their ball geometry seems to do a good job straight away in most cases.  And if there is some subtle pressure creep, it will typically diminish to the point of being unnoticeable after a short break in period.

I received 2 of these today and have tinkered with them a bit.  I wanted to check the output pressure on them so I promptly grabbed the strap wrench to pull off the regulator.  They used a judicious amount of threadlocker so that required some serious torque but I soon had them loaded into my test jig.  The first one showed 840psi on a precision gauge.  The second one 970psi.

The spring is a Belleville stack rather than a coil spring.

The gauge and Foster fitting are at 90° to each other rather than 180° like a Ninja tank.

From the photo on ANSgear's site, it's not obvious but the bonnet has a bright silver mirror finish.  As a hunter, I don't much care for it so I may hit it with some matte black.

Is there creep?

What would I need to do with the Belleville stack to get the bottle reg'ed at 1100 or 1200 PSI?

Yes they both creep about 100-150psi over a period of a few minutes but I should point out they haven't yet been cycled to have an opportunity to break in.  Based on the surface finish of the valve seat, I think there's a good chance they will settle in.

As for hitting a setpoint of 1100-1200, the one I disassembled/reassembled showed very little preload when I screwed down the bonnet so my guess is there's plenty of travel left that you could get there by simply shimming.  It's a trial-and-error affair so the only way to know is to try it.
