Help me figure this out...Seneca Aspen

So about a month ago I purchased a .25 Seneca Aspen. Its a great gun. So far I have had no issues with the pump or any of the seals.(On my 3rd tin of JSB's) It holds air like a champ so no issues there. This is my issue. Every time I take it out to shoot I have to re-zero the scope. Once its back on it will shoot really nice groups out to 50 yards, at 25 it will shoot 8 shots in the same hole. (Gun really has impressed me for what it is) It will do this through the entire shooting session, then I put it up and bring it back out a day or so later and bam, shoots about 1" high at 25 yards or 1" high and to the left. If I re-zero it again it shoots lights out. I have been using the pump as my regulator, so I shoot 2 times pump 10, so the pressure stays the same so I don't feel like its anything to do with the gun. I am thinking that since the gun shoots so good once I re-zero that it may somehow be the scope. I have checked and everything seems to be tight. Before I dropped the $ on another scope I figured I would get some input here. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help!

I was actually getting ready to make a similar thread.   I have the same issue with my Nova Liberty and Gamo Urban.  My Urban has a Discovery VT-R 4-16x42 mounted on it and the Liberty is scoped with a Hawke Airmax 4-12x50.  Both scopes are mounted rock solid with BKL rings. Both guns shoot one hole groups at 25 yards in the bullseye after zeroing....then the next day my poi shifts pretty significantly.  The solution to my problem has been to rezero prior to a hunting session, but it's really a hassle since I'm using a hand pump exclusively right now. Looking forward to feedback from other members...

I think the aspen and liberty share the same barrel and shroud set up. Check everything barrel shroud related. Barrel set screws and barrel band. If anything is loose, poi can move. The rear plastic slug mount to barrel screw and shroud to that slug. The front shroud support slug to barrel and the oring on that need to be snug.

For the liberty all of the above. And make sure the barrel isn't being torqued crooked. Loosen the barrel band and shroud support. Let it find its center and then tighten everything back down. If its off center, make sure the reg block is squared up with the action.

I think it’s the dang shroud. It’s loose where the set screw goes into that plastic slug at the back of the barrel. The set screw is stripped out. The plastic slug has a little bit of play. It’s it supposed to be like that? I can’t figure out how to tighten up the plastic slug.
 Can I just turn the shroud slightly and put another screw in that plastic slug? As long as the new set screw doesn’t touch the barrel? thanks for the help! This thing has been driving me crazy. It really shoots awesome once you readjust the POI. I would hate to send this one back if I can fix it myself.

Go ahead and pull the whole shroud. That slug has a set screw in it that holds it tight on the barrel. Make sure thats tight also. Same type of thing up by the muzzle with an oring. Make sure the oring to shroud fitment is good. You can absolutely drill a new hole a tad smaller than the set screw an self tap it in there. I rotated the shroud to 45 degrees so its easier to get at. Any sort of shifting between the two will cause the problems your describing.

Rod, you were dead on with your suggestions. I tightened up everything moved the set screw on the barbell shroud. I re-zeroed. And it shoots like a champ. If I keep it between 3100 and 2400 PSI it will put 8 pellets in the same hole at 30 yards. These guns really are pretty nice if you are going to hunt with them, you just need to keep it lubed up and make sure everything is tight right out of the box. I strictly use this one for squirrel hunting and it fits my needs nicely. Is there anyone out there that will re-build the pumps if they fail?

It's not very hard, you can do it yourself when the time comes. Keep it lubed up and don't pump too fast, it will last longer.

Reviving this as I cannot find a fix. I have a .22 Nova Freedom and I get POI shift everytime I take it out. Sad thing is single sessions have produced 1/2" groups at 50 yds no wind. I am truly addicted to this level of accuracy and air independence.... I have secured everything like has been suggested but the POI always changes after I put it up for the day!!!

I have read that a marauder barrel shroud can be used but it would seem that a marauder barrel would then be needed as the aspen barrel is 0.4331" while marauder barrel is 0.4375".
I know what needs to be done but I want to see if others have come up with another method.i know this thing needs to be freefloated with aluminum barrel bushings and set screwed in at least 3 places or threaded to the breach bushing. Any takers on sharing what had worked besides just letting the flexure of the un needed barrel band?
