CAN NOT get the .22 cal. Benjamin Trail NP with Scope Sighted In

I am in need of suggestions.
I am Very New to this Forum and VERY New to Air Rifles. I purchased a .22 cal. Benjamin Trail NP the other day. Seems to be a nice Air Rifle. I took it out to the range today to get it sighted in --- NO Luck. The best I could do was Two Inches to the Left of Center off a Bench Rest.
I'm Left Handed.
I had NO trouble getting the Verical Adjustment where I needed it to be. But the Horizonal Adjustment I Maxed OUT shooting Two Inches to Left of Center.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul

Hey paul63601
The only thing I can suggest is to check that the scope is inline with the barrel when it is mounted. My first Benji Trail had an issue with either the scope rail or the mounts. No matter what I tried or how many times I remounted the scope it was always pointing to the left.
I took the top of the rings and the scope off leaving the bottom of the rings mounted. I then took a piece of 1" pipe (or anything close to 1" but Straight) and laid it in the scope mounts leaving the end of the pipe even with the end of the barrel. At the end of the barrel, the end of the pipe was about 1/2" off with the center of the barrel. With it off center that bad theres no way there would be enough horizontal adjustment in the scope to make it up.
When mounted, my scope was noticeably twisted on the rifle just by sight.
You might check that. Or maybe the barrel is bent???
Hope you get it figured out. Let us know, we're here to help.

Go with what PA1911(Mr.Shawn) said. That will be the first test for it? As much as I love my Trail XL(an thankful it had a straight rail) this does seem to be a problem with at least one jig set up an a cross-eyed wielder in china's plant.

Hey paul,
I ended up returning that gun to Pyramyd Air for an exchange. That rifle had other issues not just the scope problem. My replacement, which I still have, has been going good so far.

Do check what 1911 said in his post. Is the rifle new?, if so take it back, you might try turning (switching)the mounts sometimes that will fix the problem. Last resort, bend the barrel. build a jig, not much building invloved, just an eye bolt large enough to slip over the barrel, nut and washer ( I like wing nuts) for same, a flat board, and a couple of blocks to rest the barrel on wlile pulling the bolt up snug. Just remember a little goes a long way. If you do the barrel bend , you should move the scope adjustment to the center of thier travel and then shoot and bend til as close as you can get it to group then use the scope adjustments.
Hope this helps you out.

I don't know if this is true or not but breakbarrel's are supposed to be in a different position everytime you pull it up to fire (although the difference is microscopic), again could be false but it would explain why my rifle shoots 2 inches slow with the scope and gets perfect accuracy with open sights.

Hey Paul, welcome to GTA Forums. Glad you found us and joind. Sorry to hear of the issues getting your new gun on target. Like suggested, recheck your scope mounting. Make sure all is aligned and mounted correectly. If all looks correct, do not attempt to make any alterations, just carry it or ship it back for replacement. Crosman has great customer service and will help out any way possible.
Keep us informed and again, welcome!!!!
Happy Shooting!!!!

I had the same problem with my NP. The rail was not machined correctly and was off to the barrel. I returned it for an exchange. I purchased mine from Midway and they refunded the return shipping. I still find mine not to be the most accurate rifle and have yet to find the best pellet for it....

Did you try Beeman FTS or H&N FTT pellets?

It shoots the H&N FTT pretty good but the JSB Exact 14.3 the best. It is picky. I like a rifle to shoot more than just one pellet well. I hope with more break in that it will...

Thanks for all the Great Suggestions. I switched the scope mounts --- Front to Rear and the Air Rifle shot Point of Aim at 30 feet using CPHP.
Now if I could figure out a way of mounting an Open Sight or Peep Sight. I would like to be able to use the Open Sight rather than the Scope out to 20 - 30 yards. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Paul
