Safety warning!!! Bad regulator EBAY

 Always looking for new ideas and tech to test on PCP guns I seen this regulator on EBay.

 I ordered 2 to test out but after looking at the construction I determined that they were unsafe at ANY pressure. There are only 3 threads of engagement on both ends and both are machined terrible to the point I believe you will absolutely have a failure. The threads on both ends are very thin and have razor sharp peaks also the internal thread is .040 out of tolerance to boot!! Let’s not even talk about the anodizing I’ll let the pics do that. Do Not Use This Regulator and please share this on other forums or chat rooms.

No problem. Its a shame because its a great idea just poorly executed.

 Looking at the various vendors who sell this I can see there has been many sold(2 to me) So If you have one or know someone who has one take it off and send it back please. IT will fail for sure ,maybe not immediately but then again probably.

I’m not even sure how that works!  Comparing it to the one on the JSAR website, looks as though that one’s missing the foster fitting!  Not that it matters, I won’t be getting one, but it appears they forgot more than just a half dozed more threads!!!

Have you pulled the guts out of it yet?

Seems to me there was a similar product on another forum a year or two back which it turned out to be a flow regulator (ie...needle valve)...not a pressure regulator at all.

Yes it’s a pressure regulator from 150 to 2200 psi. It’s like a ninja regulator turned sideways

LP Water Pistol = yes


Imagine a "squirt gun" using a big regulated CF bottle at 150 PSI.  Bet squirrels would know they got "wet".

i think those are good for 50psi. you still get projectile effect when they fail.

i did test these regulators from 3000psi input. to 2000psi output. but it creeps like a loose rectum to 2500psi. did test it behind ar500 steel though. havent failed yet but dont wanna try again

Travis, just curious.... You say it's like a Ninja regulator turned sideways.... I assume that means that the adjusting knob moves either the seat or compresses the Belleville stack?.... If would further assume that the Piston and Bellevilles must be inserted into the body under that knob?.... That being the case, what happens if you undo the adjuster all the way?.... Is there anything to prevent it from flying off the side of the regulator?....

This should explain things . There is no means to keep knob from being unscrewed under pressure all the way.

Well, that explains where the foster fitting is, not that he could get it screwed into the regulator!  Interesting that you can back the adjuster completely out of the regulator.  I guess that would net you the 0 psi!  Scary!

Actually, the adjusting knob has conventional RH threads (lefty loosey)…. and if you watch the video, unscrewing it increases the pressure.... At some point, the travel of the Bellevilles should become the limiting factor to the maximum adjustment pressure.... Unless I am mistaken, unscrewing it further, once the Bellevilles are compressed flat by the air pressure (2200 psi?)…. or no longer have preload on them (depending on their location, I suspect they put preload on the end of the piston) would not increase the pressure further.... I am somewhat alarmed that the knob might be unscrewed while under pressure to the point of it being launched by the HPA inside the regulator.... That, by itself, is an unsafe design, IMO.... Perhaps the piston might come out of the larger bore (which must be inside the adjusting knob), which would cause venting past the large O-ring…. presumably through the threads or a vent hole?....

Certainly there seems to be some safety questions beyond the thread quality, from what I can see....
