Marauder Leak - Again!

I am glad you got your money back.  I hope this warranty snafu was just an anomaly with Crosman and not their new “normal”.   I have seen a few Crosman employees commenting on airgun forums recently that lends me to think they are still a good company, but your experience certainly shows they have some quality control issues they need to address.  Seeing a loose and wrong foster fitting cap rolling around the box, and then still leaking on top of that just makes you wonder what processes actually took place with your gun in their repair shop.

I purchased a basic Marauder directly from them last spring and really like the gun and have not experienced any problems or leaks.  It did come double boxed and the outside box looked a little scarey from some obvious rough UPS handling, but the inner box and rifle were unscathed.

I am fortunate to have 45 year worth of mechanic tools in my garage and can fix most anything made so I tend to buy used and repair myself as I have done all my life. The only reason I buy new is if I can get a better deal new than used which is seldom but it does happen at times. I have a tendency to even tear down new products to make sure they are up to my standards and put my own stamp on them so I guess I am not the norm when it comes to the consumer. I was fixing my bicycles and toys at 4 years old so its ingrained in my DNA that it can always be better than the manufacturer sends out the door.

Mike - I am sorry that you had this many issues with our Mrod.  I cannot believe the number of issues you have had.  I have no idea what happened and how things went the way they did however I will say this thread has been sent around to multiple people in management and no one is happy about it.  Again I am sorry you had such a bad experience.

I know you are just the messenger in respect to running it up the flagpole at your work but maybe reminding the powers that be of an age old saying that is far more true today than ever with all the form of web based communication.

"A satisfied customer only tells a few people, but a dissatisfied customer tells everyone" . So using this forum as an example that's 100,000 plus potential customers that have now been informed of the poor CS one person has had to deal with.

Just my .2 cent worth coming from a CS industry of auto/cycle repairs for 45 plus years. If you don't have the time to do it right the first time where do you find the time to do it right the second time when its " Free".

John, although not personally affected by this incident, I want to say I appreciate it VERY much you stepping in to get this message relayed. It has been WAY too long since we had a Crosman representative here on GTA Forums and it is a very welcome addition!!!

Glad it’s getting noticed by the right persons. All my dealings with crosman have been positive and this just blew my mind. Hopefully it will increase the QC down the line and this won’t happen again.

It only takes one unsatisfied customer, rightfully so, to be seen by thousands to deter folks from Crosman/Benjamin/ Velocity.

John - Thank you for your concern and your apology.  I don't know what happened and won't speculate.  All I know is that I sent the rifle back twice for repairs to stop it from leaking.  Each time it came back, the problem was not resolved.

Whether or not the shipper caused the damage to the stock is irrelevant.  I will note that there didn't appear to be enough damage on the outside of the box to indicate that it was done by the shipper. 

The fact that the fill cap was tossed on top of the inner box tells me someone didn't care enough about their work to put it on the rifle.  Had they done so, they would have discovered that the cap didn't fit and should have got the correct version.

Each time I got the rifle back, there was about 1,000 PSI in the reservoir.  Except for this last time, I degassed the rifle when I sent it to Crosman.  So when I got it back with air then only Crosman could have put it in there.

Each time that I filled it with air it would leak.  So with only a few days existing between the time that Crosman had it to when I got it, tells me that it was never checked for leaks.  Even if it was repaired, which I doubt, why would it still leak?  To emphasize this again, the fact that it leaked after I got it back from Crosman, tells me that it was NEVER checked for leaks as I was told.

Had they checked for leaks after the repair, they would have discovered what I did.

I'm not a picky person by nature.  So I expect that I would get a lemon every now and then whether it be an air rifle or a widget.  On the other hand, I'm not stupid and I didn't make up a story about the leaks.  The rifle should have been repaired the first time I sent it back.

I would like to commend Crosman for giving me a refund.  I had a bad experience with a PB revolver from a well known manufacturer.  I won't say their name as this is an airgun forum.  Ever since purchasing that revolver I have had nothing but misfires from the stupid thing.  It was sent back to the factory several times and each time I got it back, it would not work.

I told that company that I wanted a refund for the revolver.  They refused.  I now have a very expensive paper weight that looks like a revolver.  That company will never get my business again.

Maybe someday, Crosman will get my business but now is not the time.  At least they are willing to give me a refund and for that I am appreciative.

Mike (All) – I get it.  You buy a product and expect it to work.  If it does not work the MFG should stand behind it and take care of it.  We failed on our end.  There is no reason this gun was not repaired correctly the first time or the second.  I sent a link to this forum to upper management as well as the Directors of QA and Manufacturing and the VP of operations.  I know Mike (Dir of MFG) personally reached out to you to help clear this issue up. I am sure he made it clear that No one is happy about this and there will be changes made in our processes to help keep this from happening again. 

Your former gun is currently with one of our QA Engineers for evaluation.  The engineer working on is very good and will provide a detailed report.   

It is our standard policy to ship guns with 1000psi or less in them.  I think that has something to do with the shipping/airline companies.  So if you open the gun and have between 500-1000 psi that is normal.
