Thinking of getting into PCP but fill source prices have me on the fence.....

I'm thinking of getting into PCP and have been eyeballing the HW100T but the cost of a reliable fill source is the only thing that's stopping me right now. Question: what is the best and most reliable fill source for $700 or less?

Chinese hand pumps up to 4500 psi can be had for under 40$. Don’t get much cheaper than that.

I'd rather a compressor.... But on the subject of hand pumps what's a good one with a good reputation amongst air gunners?

Hill is good name but 200$ instead of 40$. I would buy two of the cheap ones if worried. Just buy one to start your pcp journey and add a compressor and/or tank later. I believe you can buy a shoebox for under 700, made in and supported by America.. Benjamin makes a compressor that will run off your car battery, I’d look at that one. You can take a chance on some cheap china compressors to for 2-400. You can get friendly with your fire department and get a tank for 2-300. Also if you haven’t decided on a gun yet there’s the nova freedom that’s a pcp with onboard pump..

Just about all of the compressors are made in ChiCom china. Get a shoebox F10 with a cheap oil less compressor to feed it and be happy long time!! The oil less compressor will remove a lot of the moisture from the air then just run the 125 psi through a oil/water separator that are used on shop compressors and remove the rest. Parts aren't that expensive and they are American made and as such are available a heck of a lot quicker and cheaper than the ChiCom compressor parts.

Agree on the shoegbox 10...I have been looking to move from my Hill hand pump as I shot more and more PCPs.....Hill pump never let me down and the Shoebox is USA made and serviced.....lots of simple parts to work with and great customer service.......and I got the same advice here when I asked as you are getting.....I am setting up in a barn and will be able to fill my smaller carbon Fiber tank for the day in under 30 mins depending on starting point...LOL

I'm in love with the Weihrauch HW100T Maybe I'll start off with the Hill hand pump for now. Thank you for the info everyone, it's greatly appreciated!

Cheap Chinese pump will work for now just to get you started. Then you can save up for a tank or a compressor. The compressors from JSAR are supposed to be right around the corner, and if I recall correctly, they should fit your $700 budget.

I started off with a Benjamin handpump, and contrary to what most were finding here, it outperformed the Chinese one that I bought to do a comparison. The Benji is now gone (it went with one of the guns I sold) and I have a Chinese replacement for it still in the box.

I also have a Yong Heng compressor that set me back about $348; the higher price you see is because of the shipping costs out here. And just a couple weeks ago my refurb Hatsan Spark compressor ($319) made it out here. I'll be knocking on wood and burning chicken feathers in hopes that they serve me well for the coming years. So far they're both doing well. I should pull out the handpump and make sure it's working right; just to be on the safe side.

Just be sure to take your time and be very thorough going through everything. PCPs are nice, but dealing with HPA requires that we pay attention to what we're doing.

That HW100T looks to have a fairly small air cylinder. You should have no issues pumping it up quickly will a hill or Chinese hand pump.

It can be done in a matter of minutes. To me compressors are only worth it if you are needing to fill guns with very large air tanks.

Very easy and fast fills with small-meduim tanks,
BUT,a lot of folks around here runs chinese pumps succesfully,why don't give a try?
You can save about 150 bucks and invest in a good scope,the HW100 deserve it.

So I called KRALE and man, what an awesomely honest guy I talked to! Said the Weihrauch HW100 was a good gun 10 years ago when it first came out, but that now there is better to be had so he no longer recommends it. Said FX is better all the way around and recommended that I by FX from a U.S. dealer so I called PA and ordered the FX Dreamline, Dream-Tact w/ moderator & AR stock with Hill pump It's a pre-order but I'm very excited!

But realistically, that's a myth. Nobody has just one gun... some have their first gun but, it won't be long until they have a house full.
Now, if you divide the cost of a compressor by the number of guns you WILL have... well, then it becomes quite affordable. So you see, the trick to increasing the value of a compressor is to buy more guns.
Starting to make sense?

The thing I hate about the FX dream line! Long barrels and shrouds and no barrel band support. Can you lean the gun in a corner and still have the same poi?

Well, being that the rifle is only going to be 7lbs with scope, maybe half of that would be felt in a leaning position, I wouldn't think it's going to move the barrel...

Thanks for the link, we'll see what happens I guess. I should have it Monday or Tuesday. I got lucky and one came in with a delivery 30 minutes after I made the order.
