DonnyFL Ronin

I recently got an Airforce Escape .25 24” barrel in a trade. It was so loud LOL that there was no way I could shoot it in my backyard. So, I ordered a DonnyFL Ronin .30 as Donny recommended, got it so quickly, in 2 days from Fl. to CA, mounted it and it quieted down this canon that is shooting 25gr JSB’s @ 1050fps and 33gr slugs (I believe to be 33gr) @ 980fps to nearly mouse fart emissions! Couldn’t believe it! Donny is a class act and makes incredible LDC’s! A pleasure doing business with him!

They are very nice indeed. I added a Ronin to my .25 Flashpup. Really quieted it down. Now, if I could get rid of the hammer noise.

Randall, that set up is beastly. How are you mitigating noise at POI in your yard? Do you shoot into rubber mulch?

We that’s good feedback for an airforce type power...   I have the smallest and largest DonnyFL - a tanto and emperor with the expansion chamber.  So that’s 1.3”x5” vs 2”x17”...   I swear to you the sound no different at all in my 50FPE .22cal puncher breaker, funny huh.!

Luis, I’m very sorry for this late reply! I use a box stuffed with old clothes in it and the sound is, well, almost non existent when shooting into this trap. I use a do it all for most of my .22 target shooting.

Jeff, all of Donny’s offerings are so efficient at suppressing sound! Depending on the size of suppressor used just changes the tone to me.

The quest for quiet is alluring!  I have a DonnyFL Emperor V3 which of course is awesome, yet I wanted to make even LESS noise so I recently got the 6.5" extension-- now my suppressor is 17 inches long, but I still want MORE!   Will be doing some testing at some point of various 3d printed suppressors, TKO, and the Emp with and without extension.

KC, sorry for the late response! That is HUGE with extension! I myself wonder at what point is there no more help with sound suppression....h’mmm....it is a good quest though! 😉

Randall, it sure ain't gonna be like in the Movies...  ... but at least knocking the loud crack on some guns is about all you're gonna get, like the Sumatra...... .. I've got 2 Donny Ronin's and a Sumo and they do a great job on the shrouded guns to where all you hear is the spring mechanism in the gun, I tried the Ronin on the Sumatra and it brought the report down to a decent backyard shooter level 2 1/2 - 3, at full power, not bad considering how loud the Sumatra is....

Yeah I found that using small or large suppressors on a lower powered gun would yield about the same quieting effect (for example on my little CO2 Diana Chaser) ... until I screwed them onto a much more powerful gun (Avenger .22 set at 30 FPE). That's when the larger suppressor seems to come into its own. To my ear, anyway.

I am a proud owner of a DonnyFL Ronin as well. This is on the Ataman .357 and it does make a difference, without it you would have to wear ear plugs to shoot this one. That little bit of extension didn't make that much difference in the handling of it.

I have three more coming in plus also just received one of Geo's extra-longer model, so when all are in hand will do another test with Everything all shot through same gun same ammo under the same conditions, day, time, phase of moon, etc. You'll see it hopefully soon...
