Sig Sauer's ASP20 Moderator question.

I own and shoot an ASP20. Excellent gun in nearly all aspects!

But one thing, the moderator is literally welded on. Now I understand this is done to comply with 'laws'. But it is definitely not removable.

Before you go off on me I do NOT want to remove it. I do wonder however is not some way to open it up to clean it out? After all they dont call them LDC for the heck of it! I figure after a couple of thousand rounds it will probably have a good collection in there.

Also I was thinking about running some bore paste down the barrel but did not due to the fact some might build up on the crown and ruin things. If I could get the moderator open I would not have to worry about that as I could get to and clean the crown.

The end cap for the moderator appears to be press fit. I was wondering if anyone had fiddled with theirs

It's supposed to have a hair curler wrapped with felt.

From everything I have read, it is non-removeable and non-openable.

From the design I've seen of the opened parts (Tom Gaylord's blog) it appears to be sufficient for many years of shooting thousands of pellets.
