New R7 owner...some advice please.

 If you keep the R7 and take it from the stock. Be careful with the screw in the rear of the trigger guard. It connects to a nut that can fall out and be lost before you knew it was there. Don't ask me how I found out about that nut.

Actually on second thought, I'd like to keep the gun under 500 dollars. Does the R9 exhibit this same problem?

you need to put a cocking arm incert in the cocking arm before you even fire it! or it'll eat up your compression tube on the out side like a hacksaw cutting into it! they can be bought from JM! other than that claen the barrel with ballistol and some patch's and shoot it!

Is this the cocking arm insert? I was expecting something cylindrical. I don't know why. Now I'm clueless as to where it goes.

I'm assuming it goes in between the two metal arms listed in part UL066. Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I've never installed it before.

My R7 came in the mail today and I sent it right back. Didn't want to go through the trouble of taking the gun apart even though I'm sure its easy enough and a fantastic gun by all accounts. I just didn't want to take the chance...my R9 will be here by next week.

I was planning to do the same, but I called Air Venturi service and they put my concerns at ease. 

After all I've been reading, I know you'll love the R9. I was very tempted, but it would be too much gun for my purposes. The R7 is perfect for me.

How did you ship the R7 back, i.e., FedEx, UPS, USPS, ? It's a big box.

Yes, it is a very big box. It came via fedex ground and I sent it right back by fedex ground. Total shipping back cost $16. Curious as to what Air Venturi told you. Did they say they would replace it if anything went wrong relating to that specific part?
