I think I'd remove the new screw, reinstall the original screw, and see if you're back where you started. If it still doesn't work correctly you're looking at a different problem.
Okay, you're back where you started. Perhaps it's time for a bit more research on exactly what you're doing and why.

Thanks Roadworthy

Not thinking, I do not think they fit the pistol but you always check with them.
From another forum I found earlier last year I think:The trigger action can be helped by replacing the screw which pushes the sear with a longer one taking care not to run it in too far. I used a set screw rounded off and polished at the contact end and some mild thread lock. This shortens the pull distance considerably, making the heavy pull easier to accept.I used a M3x12 SS Hex head screw - I shortened it with a dremel cut-off - then rounded and smoothed the end. When it is in too far the gun will not cock - I had to back it out some and I shorten the total length down from 12mm.I think maybe there is a fine point where the safety does not work - so be careful.
I looked and measured the one in my NP - screw was all the way in.It is a M3x8mm - with tip rounded and smoothed - hex head is also rounded off - I think it was hitting the frame. Thanks a bunch for sharing. Martin The trigger pull is still LONG - just a little smoother than the stock screw.
