BSA Barrel Swap

Does anyone know the level of difficulty with swapping the barrels on a BSA built rifle? To be exact, I am speaking of the BSA Gamo I have. I found out there are .22 and .25 caliber barrels in existence and am curious if I can change the caliber.

If they ( barrel ) slides into receiver and held / located via grub screws ? .... yes re-barreling is possible.

I changed the barrel on my UK BSA from .22 to .177. I don't know about the newer BSA but it was just a matter of the pivot screw being removed.

How difficult is the pin removal?

Mitch,  Remove it with a flat blade screwdriver. Be sure the screwdriver blade is a good fit so you don't jimmy up the slot. Have a firm grip on it while turning.

The pin is flat on both sides. It appears to have pressed in.

Is your gun a fixed barrel or a break barrel?  Barrel swapping is much easier on a break barrel.

It's a break barrel.

Then the newer don't have the threaded screw, that's to bad. Before you buy a different barrel do more research on what would have to be done even to go as far as pressing the pin out. Let us know how it goes.

You might be able to tap the pivot out with a hammer and drift. I've done it on a Webley Vulcan and it was easy. You'll also need to swap the linkage unless your new barrel comes with it. You just need to replace the linkage rivet unless you can reflare it after removing it.

The linkage anchor (on the block) is also a pin.

U also need to take out the main spring I think? I can't remember how the cocking linkage is on those rifles? but if u cannot remove the cocking linkage from the compression tube by lifting it out, the u need to remove the spring from the power plant, other wise it will have tension on the barrel block and removing that pin will be difficult in that state!
