I just bought a Beeman Sportsman RS2 in .22 at a pawn shop for $20. Gun looks okay but is very dirty. I bought it with the intention of disassembling it. I have never taken a springer apart before and have been reluctant (scared!) to do so. I don't have anything to lose with this gun so I will give it a try. Should be a good learning experience. Even though its a Chinese gun it looks well made.
If it works when I get it back together I will have to buy some .22 pellets. All my other guns are .177!

If you plan to get very deep into airguns build a spring compressor. It is one of the most important tools you'll use - if not THE most important.

Definitely get a spring compressor. Air Venturi makes one oh, there are plenty designs on YouTube, I just used a strap wrench that I already had lying around

There are some 'how to's' for home made spring compressors in the GTA library

You are going to need to make one of these. It reaches in and relieves the spring tension so that you can take the trigger out and finish dis-assembly. Just used a fender washer and some long 8/32 bolts w/nuts to keep straight.
