Get to work, have all the correct tools, take off side panel screws and sling swivel screw .... but the side panels won't come off ... I thought they lifted from underneath the stock frame !!

 They do but it feels almost as your snapping them off. I was a bit scared when I Tore mine apart but they popped off with a crack/snap sound

Just remove the 2 Butt stock screws and take the whole thing off.

You will probably end up doing that anyways. Trigger adjustments are a lot easier.

Yeah, that is what I found was the best way. Putting those side panels on the stock section is a real pita. Just the whole stock off all at once and keep the front side panels attached.

OK, well I took the panel off and dug in the the innards. My pieces in  the clear tube  (the pumping mechanism) came apart easier than I thought. I had small metric wrenches and found a small pin ring tool.

When I took the midsection out that has the O ring that gives everyone fits ... it was undersized and there was black residue all over the inside of the tube where this O ring was coming apart. I replaced it with two 70 duro Urethane 006 O rings. I then went it and checked the check valve..I looked at the valve and the 4mm ball resting on the O ring seat ---- it looked fine so I did not touch it .. it just put it back together !

After the gun was put back together I started to pump... heard a little air leaking but it would not pump.  So I put about 10 more drops of silicone oil in it and still heard the noise.. so I decided to put the gun away and take her apart again tomorrow .... after a few minutes at my office desk .. I said to myself ....hey I opened up the quick release valve and I don't think I tightened it down all the way ... Sure enough I did not tighten it down ....BINGO .....  She started holding air and building pressure  It has been about 40 minutes and the gauge has not budged.

I addition the pump arm comes to a full stop at the end of the pump action, unlike before when I could move it and it would release air.

So bottom line I now have a working Nova Freedom .. Yahoo !!

Added info: This is a bit of a project, so have a good size working area clear of junk. All my screws and such were put in plastic bags in groups, also be sure to lube all O rings in silicone oil before you put them together.

We will see how it shoots this weekend ... I'm very surprised on how easy it pumps, the pumping action feels totally different then before !!!

Just took off the barrel (what a pain) air port will be drilled out to 11/64ths when I get home and reinstalled tomorrow .. this opening up of the port may get me to a solid 885-900 fps ... We will see.

When Im working with small parts I'll drop a magnet into each bowl or bag, helps things stay around a little longer.

BTW, I do that in my tools also. The small allen keys dont wander off.

I was just looking at the assembly instructions for the freedom and I'm thinking that the original third stage O ring is the same as the second stage rings for my vevor compressor. I guess I'm going to have to compare them when I rebuild the pump.

I will put the gun together tomorrow and do some velocity testing after lunch at work. I'm hoping for the 885-900 velocity range, we will see. With all the mods and assembly and disassembly I did, I'm sure my point of impact changed a lot so I will need to re-zero. I will re-zero at my home and then re-zero at my shooting area ... Now that I can pump up the gun I can get a good zero at my shooting area to get a solid 40 yard zero in the 885 + area .... I'm excited.

I think when I opened my barrel up to 3/16 I think I gained a 100 fps but not sure. Darn sometimers!!! I'm getting 850 with 21.14 gr barracudas at 3000 psi right now and all I did was open the tp to 3/16 polish the bore with JB and crown the barrel.

Well I sighted her in and got some #'s ;-  )

For five shots I was getting an average of 873fps with 18.1gr JSB's at ~3000psi starting pressure before I fixed the pump and bored out the barrel air port from ~.161 to ~.173 (after remeasuring). After the boring out of the barrel port I'm getting speeds in the 885-889 fps area.

She shoots from 2950psi down to about 2550psi for 5 shots in the 885fps area. Keeping her between 2900 and 2650 gives me 4 shots in the 886fps+ area. This is with my hammer spring about 3/4 turn out from full power. This is just fine ;-  ) as bringing it up from about 2650 to 2950 with this pump will probably take about twenty pumps ... no biggie for sure, and as a matter of fact I may keep the pressure between 2900 and 2750 and know my velocity is around 890fps, for three shots and a fast 15 pumps to fill ...love it !! Where I have her set she shoots a pretty level 4-5 shot string [879,(888,887,889,881)], and a very level 3 shot string (888,887,889) I could take the gun apart and strive for more speed .. but in reality I'm there .. 885+fps is moving out pretty good with JSB Heavies !!

From 2500 psi to 2950 psi it took 27 pumps .. sounds about right ;-  ) .. and wow this gun is nice to pump for sure, even for a guy like me in his 70's ;-  )

So far I'm very pleased with this gun, and learned a lot taking it apart too ! ... since I'm busy this Saturday, I may take her out Friday on a little hunting trip ... We will see !

As you know Freedom and Aspen are the same gun but marked by different companies.

It was not hard, but it was a learning curve for sure ... start out with a BIG table and places to put your parts, you will have Parts all over for sure. You WILL need the correct metric allen keys, metric wrenches and a pin wrench. There are a couple guys that have downloaded PDF pics ... very helpful and take picks as you go.

If it is your check valve and you know it is that, you may just be able to remove that section and install a new O ring. I ordered a few of these O rings that I think are the correct size and they should be coming in from China in about 2 or 3 weeks ... If you need one let me know and I will send it to you.

SIDE BAR:  Before you do anything, degas your gun and check to be sure the air degassing screw on the bottom is fully tight .. if that is loose at all you will leak air !

The pin wrench I got from HF was way to big ... tI think I read somewhere that a 2mm pin size wrench will work ... I used a Adjustable snap ring wrench set from Harbor Freight and that worked !
