I recently got an urban in a trade and was wondering if there’s a less expensive magazine option?

Also, can the coyote and/or buccaneer wood stocks fit the urban?

Urban mags usually go on sale around November-December.

Almost a universal complaint about the Gamo Urban....no airgun should come with just one mag. (although firearms nearly always do....airguns nearly always come with two) and the simple injection molded plastic mags shoud NOT cost $50 (esp. considering this isn't some limited edition rifle with low sales volume).

Not too long ago (maybe a year...maybe only 6 months) were Gamo mags for $34 and the identiacl mags marked BSA for $49. "They" pretty well figured that out and decided to even them up at $50....mark that up to greed.

(from the links, if a private individual can make them and sell them at a profit for much less than $50....then the company's mass production must be making some serious $ per mag.).

Several members here have adapted wood BSA stocks to their Urbans...I've no idea if it was a drop-fit or if there was some adapting.

The other complaints seem to be:

1. It's ugly enough to be "fugly".  Some of that is the stock....some of that is the giant sized LDC.

2. Trigger could be better (and it can be,with a longer adjusting screw).

3. Shot count from the 105cc air tube.

Two of those (#1 and #3) might be valid complaints if you "accidnetly" got one (door prize/unextected result from a trade).  If you knowingly bought one, then you should have figured out #1 and #3 before you pushed the "buy" button.

Love my Urban but, it's kinda like the old printer scheme. The printer is dirt cheap... the ink will break the bank.

I bought mine used and the PO bought a second mag and I have seen that stock blanks can be had very cheap. Cheap enough I may attempt making a stock for it. So far all I have dose was crank up the hammer spring.

I purchased two from this gentleman, not at the same time. I was so impressed with the first, that I just had to have another. I highly recommend both this product and the seller! I hope he has some in stock for you, they function perfectly.

Thanks all, unfortunately Lee doesn’t have any more and won’t be making more unless there’s another larger order.

I actually like the look but I’m also considering buying and fitting a buccaneer stock.  The previous owner did several mods to it already, the longer trigger screw and drilled a hole in the stock so you can adjust the hammer tension without removing the stock. 

From all I’ve read it’s basically a rebranded buccaneer so accuracy should be pretty good.  It’s going to be my backyard plinker and occasional pester so won’t see much over 30 yards.

Is pretty much the same "guts" so far as I can see.  Different stock, longer air tube, and no bigaz LDC.  Set equally, one would shoot about as fast as the other (a bit like a car, the bigger gas tank would give you more miles per fill up, but not more speed).

Will say this about the Urban stock....with your eyes closed (so as not to remind you of the ugly) it actually feels quite good.

Hmmmm.... different strokes I reckon... I find the stock quite comfortable and not really unpleasing to look at.

Results-orientation I guess. Only time I notice the stock is when I'm not shooting.  When I am shooting, all I see if the sight picture in the scope. Urban doesn't dispaly well to an observer,but actually fits well (with a low mounted scope).


Basically, we only touch a rifle in 4 or 5 places: hand on grip, finger on trigger, stock on shoulder, cheek on stock, the other-sided hand on the fore end(if hand-held). If the balance/weight/dimensions were the same, could make a popsicle stick wire-frame set up that felt the same....all the rest is just what folks not actually shooting the rifle see.

Like the results of that...but considering the price changes (up and down) currently the Coypte (wood stock), Buccaneer (black coated wood stock) and Urban are all the same price at PA.   The other two would result in a longer air tube and a better shaped stock...and if thinking about removing the Urban LDC, would be equal in $$ to add an LDC.

Curious how difficult it was to do that and also how much was the ldc?

Cutting it off I used a dremel and very carefully once to the barrel took my time and then use pliers to break the rest foo so I did not get into the finish.
there are 2 roll pins that you need to remove to get the guts out then the rest has to be cut, the portion of barrel that is in the outer but is splined and the pos is cast on or passed on. If you have a dremel, a cutting blade, caution, and confidence it is easy and I did it with shaky hands.  Cost that I do now know I traded work for the one I have best bet is to send rocker1 a PM. I can tell it is a bit quieter but that fart noise it made is gone and that is the best part for me. POI did change just slightly but that is expected.
