8gr pellet going 1000ish fps?

Anybody ever gotten good accuracy from an average weight .177 (7.9, 7.87, 8.44, 8.64, etc) going pretty fast? Something like 950-1000fps, up around that don't-go-that-fast speed?
General consensus seems to be that keeping stuff subsonic is necessary. Just wondering if there are any outliers.
Next question: what's the fastest you've pushed an average weight .177 and retained accuracy?
Reason I ask is that I'd like a really flat shooting .177 for this Disco youth gun project I'm starting. 20fpe is the max that I'd like to go, but realistically I'm thinking 16.5-17 fpe is really going to just about max out the accuracy/stability of an 8gr, .177 pellet. Ultimately it'll be what speed and pellet produces the best accuracy with the barrel I've got, but I'm curious to see what others have done.
For reference, my USFT will go to 950fps with the JSB 10.34 and still be just as accurate as my normal settings of 905-930fps. But, now I'm taking about a heavier pellet.....

The rifle used wasn't a PCP. Brand new out of the box, no mods or tune Webley Tomahawk .177 springer shooting H&N Sniper Medium 8.5gr at a 958 fps, 10 shot average. 20 shots at a 25 yard target. 2nd target was the same rifle, same distance, same number of shots shooting RWS R-10 Match Heavy 8.2gr at a 975 fps 10 shot average.
Your mileage may vary with a PCP, but thought it wasn't one bit bad for a $100 springer.

I also like/prefer JSB Express 177/7,87gr at 950-980 FPS but only at shorten distances ( up to 40m ) . At longer/rifle distances they may start spiraling or dragging by wind.

well my BSA Buc... will send the 7.9 grain Benji domed accurately at 1800 psi and below for 30 yards...above that they do not work well...have not chrono them yet... on a 2500 psi fill it is right about 20 fpe with 10.3 g...
in .22 my AT44 Long is sending the 18g JSB into about .5" at 1030 fps... those are the only pellets that have work at overspeed so far...
all it means though is yes it can happen but does not mean it will work out of anyone else's Buc or AT or other rifle... Have not tried longer distances but do not have much faith they will continue to do well...

Some pellets need to be sent slow... the Ruger 16g points do best in my .22 pumpers at 35 ish yards but only if speed is kept under 750 fps ... because of harmonics a round nose pellet that does well at 950 fps out of one barrel may need sent at 850 fps out of another...
point is you can try to predict what will happen but do not know till you try...

YES JSB Jumbo Heavies are for a long time as any accuracy/universally/lover power etalon for longer distances but for shorter distances also very light JSB .177 pellets are usable.
Personally I am awaiting for 12 FPE PCP guns and Piledrivers at caliber .130.

Haven't had the best luck pushing .177's much past 950fps.Even with the big .177's that have enough "oomph" to push 15 and 16 gr.pellets.Maybe I'm picky about accuracy, but when I find the same pellets working well at 925 and acting stupid at 975, I tend to just move up in weight (if possible) and try again.
IF accuracy is good enough at short range with an expanding pellet,I'll sometimes use really fast settings in pesting (faster you drive expanding pellets, the more violentyly they expand and the less they penetrate...which works out well for some situations)....but so far, I've found heavier at more sedate speeds to be predictible in accuracy(fewer shots you really can't explain).
Don't think it's really caliber specific, most of the bigger bores act pretty much the same....occasionally accuracy is "ok"in the 4 digite velocity region, usually it'snot as good (at longer ranges) than slightly slower (low to middle 900's).
Normally, will keep a .177 using typical 8ish grain pellets down to about 17 foot pound area....reset closer to 20 foot pounds with the 10.3-10.6gr.
Did have one rife (still have) that actually shot well at 1030fps (a 5mm using 23gr. pellets) but as time has passed, figured that one to be the "freak" exception to the rule.

My .177 Maximus *really* liked the H&N Sniper Mediums in 8.5gr pushed up to about 980-990fps. That's the only one I've been able to shoot that fast and maintain accuracy past 50 yards. I used to shoot it out to about 65 yards and it was great, quarter sized groups on average and dimes on occasion if the wind was right. I've made way too many changes to it to really say now, for my purposes a $6 tin of CPHP works just as well as a $14 tin.
