I had a late and very long day yesterday...  Work up at 4, drove to the Home Office, spent  full day, drove back, headed straight to The Wife's.  We set up a plan for taxes (we owe a significant amount thanks to capital gains), then stopped by the grocery store.  Got a few more supplies; I have over 2 weeks worth of canned/dried goods now.  Not the final word in nutrition, but darn good choices and well-balanced, plus easy enough to prepare.

Used the rower for a spell while watching Almost Human (show about cops in the future), then headed to bed- made a couple more posts.

2:20 AM I woke up- I heard noise outside- it sounded like somebody knocked 3 times quickly on my back door.  I grabbed my SCCY and checked windows- nothing.  It took a little time to get back to sleep.

Woke up this morning to get ready for work and decided to do a walk-around outside.  Some stuff wasn't where it was- it moved from the front to completely behind the house, so I wasn't imagining.  Happy happy joy joy!

I fixed all the sensor lights when I moved in. While I appreciate the thought, a driveway alarm would be a horrible choice with all the local wildlife- deer, coyote, a bobcat (at least one that I've seen) birds, more than a few rodents.  Already got one squirrel that has come up and sniffed my shoes while I was grilling.  Hah, the squirrels in this 'hood are well behaved unlike my old neighborhood.  Buncha ruffians over there!

Besides, shooting a random noise with rocksalt is illegal here.  Not risking that.  Discharging a firearm in suburban limits is illegal in my county (it would be a separate story if I had a bonafide home intruder).  A kid was killed a few years when a July 4th celebratory firearm discharge killed a young kid when a bullet dropped down onto his head.

Anyway, to keep things on-track, this is also a rental.  There is a neighborhood park close but it does close at dusk.  Not overly concerned more annoyed.

Got 'er done son! I installed the new parts on the deck and it's now back on the mower. It's not a beauty queen so it's dirty since it's a work horse but most importantly after 10yrs it's still doing a great job of cutting grass as seen in the bottom picture where it was cut to a mere 1" height.

Yep I think the black looks better than the red did. Blends the colors into a better theme to me this way, and yes that's a hosltered revolver in one cup holder along with wasp spray in the other that I used to kill several mahogany wasps today.

That tiny thing called a threshold is where things get serious- actually got to use that line once seemingly eons ago when police came knocking on my door at the home in VB at ~ 3:30 in the morning.  I answered the door the way I slept: buck naked.  Of course it was a pair of cops, guy and gal, and they were looking for somebody who  they claimed lived in the house the year prior and I replied I'd owned the house the last 6 years.  Anyway, lady-cop was amused and trying to not laugh at her partner- she was clearly the veteran and he the rookie.  Her partner was trying to be all-business and finally he asked if I could go put clothes on.  I told him no, and added the moment they stepped across my threshold their visit became a serious matter, so if it wasn't a serious matter I would appreciate them letting me get back to bed.  When the guy held up the paper with the name, it turns out they had the wrong address  (the lady at that point started laughing out loud at her partner- he was clearly embarrassed).  I laughed and said no big deal, they closed the door, and I went back to bed.



I shot my Leshiy today so otherwise gonna post over in that gate.

Everything was/is OK and I was thanked profusely for my concern by both neighbors.

I got the word yesterday that the school I teach at will be closed for at least a week or two. So now I'm stuck at home with my new HW95L, plinking in the back yard for a week. It's not easy, but I have to think of the children

Scooped 4" snow, then watched our state boys basketball tourney on TV. Teams, Coaches, Refs, Media, immediate family. Empty stands. Our girls state tourney last week was THEE source for a coronavirus outbreak. 16 year old kid @ UNMC isolation, serious condition.

Went shopping with The Wife.  Bluetooth ear-bud since she's now a telecommuter too.  Ran some CAT5E and electrical wiring.  The usual stuff: new plug, cut-in new receptacle, flexi-uni-bit for going through a few studs.

After that, mowed her backyard after cleaning up dog-mines.  Cleaned gutters, hooked up the upstairs AC, chatted a bit and then rolled out.  We're getting divorced but we're still friends.

Headed to Food Lion and grabbed maple syrup and a few other items- people were feisty about the lack of bottled water so I said out loud (quite loudly) that water filters are dirt cheap and pay for themselves in a month.  I was asked recommendations about filters as I paid and left.  Like really?  People can't just whip out the phone they use to spend 35 hours a day on Facegram and Instabook to find a frickin' water-filter review?  They comment on Yelp about the crummy service the single-mom working a double-shift gave- "She forgot to bring Nutra-Sweet with my coffee!" but cannot look up a darn filter?


I wanted to choke-slam several of the idiots I saw in the grocery store but managed to depart without committing stupicide- where you kill all the stupid people.

Wore out. Did more landscaping today cutting bushes with the trimmer, clearing grass/weeds from the ground, blowing all the cuts out of the landscaping, raking it all up and hauling it to the burn pile in the woods with the mower and dump trailer. The previous owner had something battery powered in there once and tossed their *20* AA dead batteries on the ground to rot open over the years contaminating the ground instead of just trashing them like they should have. They could carry a new battery out there to be used one at a time as the lid stated to whatever former device I found but they could never be bothered to take the dead one back. I detest laziness like that.
