Bought this bout 4 mons ago. Reads room temp, stick probe in hot lead it reads 1 that's it. Any ideas what's wrong?
In reading the Amazon reviews, it looks like a bum device. Many are experiencing the same issues. I would contact Lyman.

OK, I did a little research and it is intended to measure the melt temp. They seem to be failing. But you already know that "Now". GRRRR!!Sorry Sir! Not much I hate worse than a tool that won't, cannot do its job.
Most of the low cost units such as the NOE probe is meant for measuring the mold temp. The NOE requires a small hole be drilled into the base of the block wall and comes with the bit for doing such. I have not researched the Lyman version. I do use the NOE for checking mold temps when preheating the molds.Knife
