Texan SS upgrade to 4500psi

FYI - Dyotat100 is probably one of the best in the world (if not the best which I believe) in his understanding of the Air Force platform.

Yes the hammer does play a part. But with bigbore a lot more air is used. You raise the pressure and add some preload.

Good to know as I plan to add a 4500 psi tank to the Texan in the future and do the heavy spring upgrade.

I should have hammer springs here soon. I went thru a lot of samples to find one that should work good. Same length as stock spring. So no excessive pressure on the valve after the shot.

also, when i was shooting my texan to bring down the pressure before removing the fill adapter, i was at around 1400psi and shot it one last time......and it
emptied the hole tank on that shot ....dumped it all !!!  is that normal ??

I am pretty sure the ones I purchased are the same length. Been 2 year heck I dont even know if I could find them now. Came in a 2 pack.

Yes that was tank dump. When you remove the spring it will happen earlier. I would stay above 2200 psi to be safe

Here is a  spring I pulled out of customers gun. Was making all kinds of noise because it was dragging inside the tube.
Here is stock spring next to spring. There is one that is even longer then this one.

received the 500cc 4500psi tank today and its diameter is much smaller than the AF tank,  just a little longer.....maybe a better sight picture is possible ??

now to find the time to R&I the tanks....

FYI the new spring you put in my Texan is much better than the stock spring AND much better than the medium or heavy AAO springs I bought and tried.
