When I got my XS28-M from Flying Dragon a few weeks ago there was a note on the box saying "Do not slam cock rifle."

After some Googling (with SafeSearch on

) the closest I can find is cocking the rifle and then pulling the trigger to slam the barrel shut.

Do you think this is what he meant, and why on Earth would anyone ever do this?

If I had to guess I would say it means one of two things..
1) Don't slap the barrel to open it like you would need to do in some guns with hard lockup.
2) Some folks that don't know better will "slam" the barrel shut after loading like we used to do with break down shotguns.

Never heard of it but my guess would be an extremely vigorous cocking such that the barrel could bend.

I think its nr 2.
Slamming barrel with unnecessary force multiplied by thousand times might cause damage to the pivot, breach seal etc and affect accuracy.

I talked to Mike and by "slam cock" he meant slamming down the barrel to cock it, basically putting way more energy than necessary into it and potentially inducing barrel droop. It sounds like he has had a few customers complain about droop on rifles that didn't have any droop when they left his hands.
